The Angels came out on 70’s night and really handle the Padres with an impressive 7-2 win. But the Padres came back, winning the next two including the rubber game in 13 innings, by a score of 3-2. Newly acquired second baseman Alexi Amarista was the star Saturday night, either scoring or batting in all Padres’ runs. Yonger Alonso provided the heroics Sunday early with a game tying double before Clayton Richard started a two out rally with a single and then scored all the way from first on a mishandled single to left, winning the game. The win moved the Padres out of the cellar and ahead of Colorado for fourth place in the National League West. The Padres will fly tonight to St. Louis to start a three game series as the first leg of 10 day road thrip that also stops in New York and Chicago. Below is a recap of the series against their AL leaders to the north. May 18th, 2012 Angels 7, Padres 2 The Angel took an early lead and held it until they blew the game open in the ninth with ...

Daily Friar 5.20.12

For the first time since 2006 the Padres were able to beat the Angels. It was a fantastic win to say the least. The Padres played Padres baseball: great pitching, great fielding (one error) and some timely hitting. Alexi Amarista was the spark plug for the team as he was always on base and scored 2 of the 3 Padres runs. I for one am very excited to watch him play in Petco for years...

The Padres can be such a surprise sometimes. In a game that came down to 13 innings you had to begin to wonder if the Padres would be able to ever score another run. After being blown out on Friday and winning on Saturday, Sunday's rubber match had to come down to 4 extra innings in order to find a series winner. And wouldn't you know it, the Padres prevailed! This is quite...

The Padres are stuck in a rut right now. And I think that is putting it lightly. The last two games have been utter blow outs. Not to mention that there have been more injuries piling up as well. This team is falling apart and falling apart quick. Who knows how long anyone will remain healthy anymore. It's a complete crap shoot. I can't think of a whole lot more to say, so...
