Want drama? The American League wild card chase is heating up. Here's the latest look at how teams in the race stack up. Saturday's key results Tampa Bay Rays 5, Baltimore Orioles 1 Buzz: Alex Cobb was just what the Rays needed after they used 11 pitchers in an 18-inning victory that ended early Saturday morning. The right-hander only allowed one run and five hits in 8 13 innings. Desmond Jennings hit a three-run homer to left field in the fifth against right-hander Miguel Gonzalez, which proved to be more than enough on a day when Cobb was hot. Jennings finished with four RBI, tying a career high. New York Yankees 6, San Francisco Giants 0 Buzz: There was little doubt about this one. The Yankees scored three runs in the third and two in the fourth against right-hander Ryan Vogelsong, who was chased after five innings. Eduardo Nunez led the way for New York with two RBI, and Yankees right-hander Ivan Nova pitched a six-hit complete game to help clinch his teams third victory in four games. New York has outscored San Francisco 11-1 in the first two games of their series. Cleveland Indians 4, Houston Astros 1 Buzz: The Indians took care of business early. They scored three runs in the first inning, on a Jason Kipnis sacrifice fly to center and Michael Brantleys two-run homer to right, to put away the Astros with ease. Indians left-hander Scott Kazmir allowed no runs and four hits in seven innings. Texas Rangers 3, Kansas City Royals 1 Buzz: The Rangers recovered from a loss Friday by tagging right-hander Jeremy Guthrie with three runs and seven hits in six innings. Elvis Andrus, Adrian Beltre and A.J. Pierzynski each had RBI. Rangers right-hander Matt Garza pitched eight innings and allowed one run and five hits. This series between wild-card contenders will be decided Sunday. Standings update W L Pct. Quick take: Another day, another easy Indians victory. A countdown to Sept. 30 tee times for the Astros is on. San Francisco Giants at New York Yankees, 1:05 p.m. Probable pitchers: RH Yusmeiro Petit (4-0, 3.08 ERA) vs. LH Andy Pettitte (10-10, 3.93 ERA) Worth noting: Pettitte has allowed two runs and eight hits (2.57 ERA) in seven innings against the National League this season. Quick take: The Yanks have breezed past the Giants in the first two games of this series. What makes you think the third will be different? Baltimore Orioles at Tampa Bay Rays, 1:40 p.m. Probable pitchers: RH Scott Feldman (12-10, 3.49 ERA) vs. TBA Worth noting: Feldman is 4-2 with a 2.13 ERA in 11 career games (five starts) against the Rays. Quick take: Suddenly, the Rays are rolling. The Os must stop the bleeding. Texas Rangers at Kansas City Royals, 2:10 p.m. Probable pitchers: RH Alexi Ogando (7-4, 3.15 ERA) vs. RH James Shields (12-9, 3.33 ERA) Worth noting: Ogando is 2-0 with a 0.82 ERA in five September appearances. Quick take: Ogando is streaking in September. But Big Game James will be tough to beat at home. You can follow Andrew Astleford on Twitter @aastleford or email him at aastleford@gmail.com.
