It’s easy to forget, but the Braves made a small trade before the lockout in December of 2021, acquiring RHP Jay Jackson from the San Francisco Giants. As they play their series finale against the Giants, Jackson starts a rehab assignment after being shut down in the Spring.

Jay Jackson was drafted back in 2008 out of Furman and has primarily been a career minor-leaguer. Jackson did appear for the Giants in 2021, posting a respectable 3.74 ERA and 4.05 FIP over 21.2 innings pitched. Jackson had a few hiccup games, but he only gave up more than one earned run twice over 23 appearances. He was a solid pickup, but with the way the Braves bullpen has been pitching, I’m not sure what Jackson’s role will be. He could still be valuable depth in Gwinnett at worst.
