The Outside Corner:
Check out this play from Netherlands shortstop Andrelton Simmons during their WBC matchup with Cuba last night. With one out in the top of the second inning, Cuban shortstop Erisbel Arruebarruena hit a pop up into shallow center field on the second base side of the bag. Simmons comes from out of nowhere at his shortstop position to make a sliding catch, calling off center fielder Roger Bernadina and second baseman Jonathan Schoop. Simmons then quickly got to his feet and fired a strike to first base to double off Eriel Sanchez and end the inning for the Dutch team. What an amazing play by Simmons, widely considered to be one of the best defenders at short in baseball.

Orlando, Fla. There are few problems to find on the Braves roster, at least on paper.
As manager Fredi Gonzalez makes his way through spring training with his new-look lineup, formidable rotation and top-of-the-line bullpen, the few remaining position battles have made themselves clear: third base and the final one or two bench spots. That's really it. The Braves look to be...
ATLANTA This is the Julio Teheran everyone has been waiting for.
Though his nine spring innings are but a small sample size, Teheran, the 22-year-old Colombian product and top Braves prospect, looks to have his confidence back. It's been a good week for Chipper Jones.
Tuesday, the former Atlanta Braves star was honored by the Georgia House of Representatives as a resolution, sponsored by Representative Sam Teasley, was passed proclaiming March 5, 2013 as "Chipper Jones Day" in the state. And on Friday, the 1999 National League MVP dropped this subtle hint via Twitter.
Freddie Freeman and rookie Evan Gattis each hit their second home run this spring and the Atlanta Braves beat the Houston Astros 14-9 Friday in a meeting of split squads.

Talk among scouts that #Braves will listen on Venters. Braves, though, say they love depth in their bullpen, including 3 LHs with Avilan.
