HOUSTON Elvis Andrus wouldn't confirm anything about his upcoming new deal with Texas but the All-Star shortstop did make it clear Tuesday that he enjoys playing for the Rangers.
"As a player that's what you're looking for as soon as you get here," Andrus said. "You always get the chance to stay longer with a team that you love. There's always a lot of good things that go through your mind."
According to a source, Andrus and the Rangers have agreed to an eight year, 120-million contract that will begin following the 2014 season. There's an opt out in the contract following the 2018 season and club option for a ninth year.
The Rangers will have a press conference once they return to Arlington but Andrus said he knows nothing about that, saying he planned to spend his Thursday off day with his family. There's a possibility the deal could be official then.
