Albert Pujols homered and singled to drive in four runs, Mike Trout had three hits, including a two-run single, and Dan Haren pitched effectively into the sixth inning to lead the Los Angeles Angels to their eighth straight road win, 11-5 over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday.
Torii Hunter, who homered twice and drove in six runs in Friday's series opener, had three singles and scored three times to help the Angels to their longest road winning streak since also taking eight straight away from home July 18-Aug. 2, 2009.
The Rockies hit five home runs, two by Tyler Colvin, but lost their fourth straight overall and fell to 0-5 this season in interleague play.
Trout scored three runs, including stealing second and third and coming home on an infield groundout after singling to lead off the fourth inning.
The Angels capitalized on the Rockies' injury-battered pitching staff, which came into the game with a collective ERA of 5.14, highest in the majors.
Newly signed left-hander Jeff Francis, making his first start of the season in the place of injured Juan Nicasio (strained left knee), was tagged for eight runs and 10 hits in 3 1-3 innings. Francis, a former first-round draft pick of the Rockies, rejoined the team this week after opting out of his minor league contract with the Cincinnati Reds. He pitched for Kansas City last season after going 55-50 with a 4.77 ERA in 150 career starts with the Rockies from 2004-10.
Haren (4-6) saw his string of homerless games snapped at four. He allowed solo shots by Marco Scutaro in the first, Colvin in the second, Carlos Gonzalez in the fifth and Chris Nelson in the sixth.
Overall, Haren went 5 1-3 innings and gave up four runs and 10 hits. He struck out four and walked one in winning for the third time in four decisions. He was lifted in favor of LaTroy Hawkins in the sixth after giving up Nelson's homer.
Colvin homered for the second time when he connected off reliever Hisanori Takahashi in the seventh for the second multihomer game of his career.
The Angels scored against Francis (0-1) in each of the first four innings, highlighted by a three-run second in which Trout singled to drive in two before scoring on Pujols' single.
With the Angels leading 8-3 in the sixth, Hunter beat out an infield single and Pujols drove the first pitch he saw from reliever Guillermo Moscoso into the Angels' bullpen beyond the center field wall for his ninth home run of the season. It was the first homer for Pujols at Coors Field since May 30, 2007, ending the former St. Louis slugger's longest homerless drought at an NL park.
Pujols finished the day 2-for-3 with a sacrifice fly and walk to improve his batting average in interleague play to .346 since 2001, tops in the majors in that span.

A poll of MLB players determined who was the most overrated pitcher in baseball. Some of the answers may surprise you.

After his slow start to his first season as a member of the Los Angeles Angels, Albert Pujols is quietly putting together a nice stretch of games.
So nice that he now has his average up to...

I would like to take a moment to congratulate both Mike Trout and Bryce Harper on their admission to the Baseball Hall of Fame. It was very forward thinking of the baseball writers association to revamp the criteria for acceptance. It is not surprising considering the general propensity for those in baseball to be accepting of...
Rediscovering patience at the plate has helped Albert Pujols and his new team turn their season around.
Pujols homered and singled to drive in four runs, Mike Trout had three hits, including a two-run single, and Dan Haren pitched effectively into the sixth inning to lead the Los Angeles Angels to their eighth straight road win, 11-5 over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday.
I don't know about you but this Angels team has been something of an enigma all year. Are they a power hitting team? Are they a pitching and defense squad? What on earth drives this team and how will we know it when we see it? Today I think we finally figured it out. This is Mike Trout's team. He is driving the engine and the rest of the boys are along for the ride. Angels...

Is CJ Wilson overrated?
There are plenty of big-league players who apparently think so, although it's doubtful any of them play for the Colorado Rockies.
The Angels left-hander certainly must have made believers of those who called him the most overrated pitcher in baseball in a Sports Illustrated poll this week. In fact, what he's done this season might be All-Star Game...
After all the time and effort and attention put into turning Mark Trumbo into a third baseman, Albert Pujols has played there more often than Trumbo over the past 35 games. With the Angels playing six consecutive interleague games in Colorado and Los Angeles without the DH, the Angels opted to move Pujols to third for a game in Colorado and start Kendrys Morales at first base in...
The Angels' Mike Trout is a definite All-Star, and the Nationals' Bryce Harper should be in the game, too.
We are talking, quite possibly, about a baseball version of Magic Johnson and Larry Bird, two once-in-a-generation players we'll be comparing for the next 20 years.
There is no other way to say it: Something will be terribly wrong if the two prodigies do not represent...
They say that no lead is safe at Coors Field. Well, that should go double for anytime Ervin Santana is the one charged with protecting said lead at Coors Field. Leave it to good ol' Big Erv to take a 6-1 lead in the second inning and turn it into a ballgame that was a lot more interesting than it needed to be.
The point I think was best made by Victor Rojas and Mark Gubicza...
After waiting through what seems like a lifetime of “it’s still early in the season”, it looks like the Angels may finally be turning the corner and the bandwagon is in beginning to take on more passengers. When you think about it, the blind acceptance and party atmosphere of the bandwagon is kind of beautiful. It accepts all fans regardless of race, religion or creed. Given...
If only every game went according to this plan. The Angels got strong starting pitching, good defense and timely hitting to get a nice win to start the road trip. Angels 7 Rockies 2Game Notes -- Mike Trout is just stupid good. He is making a mockery of this game with his nightly performance. He has already solidified himself as one of the premier leadoff men in the game and tonight...

Rookie Mike Trout had three hits and scored three times and Albert Pujols had an RBI double to back C.J. Wilson, who struck out nine in eight innings.
