Players and teams have a difficult choice when the World Baseball Classic rolls around.  Should superstars play in the tournament held just before the Major League season starts, or should they be with their respective teams preparing for the season?  It's a difficult decision especially when injury concerns are factored in, but it seems the decision has been made in Albert Pujols' case.  Regardless of what the Los Angeles Angels may think. According to Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com, Pujols plans to play in the WBC.  His teammates, Josh Hamilton and Mike Trout will not be playing, though.  Pujols will play for his home country, the Dominican Republic, if his knee continues to hold up.  He underwent arthroscopic surgery shortly after the 2012 season ended. The knee injury should have the Angels concerned.  Pujols could be putting himself at undue risk by playing in the WBC, but unless there is something written into his contract, there isn't much the team can do. ...

Trout catches 550-pound grouper in Key West

Over the weekend we noticed that Mike Trout, his family, and most importantly his girlfriend Jessica Cox were heading to Key West for a little vacation. They seem like a rather tame bunch so we weren’t expecting much, especially with the whole family joining them. We checked his Twitter account this morning anyways, just doing our due dilligence, and what we saw was even better...

Mike Trout Catches a Fish So Big That No Pun Can Describe It (Photo)

Baseball fans have been waiting for the day when Mike Trout would come back from an ocean expedition with a giant aquatic animal at the end of a pole. It would be a day for wordplay and wittiness, of puns and potshots. What else can you ask for when you have a great outfielder named Trout? But alas, Trout has caught his first fish, and it’s so big that we can only tip our hats...

Angels' Trout to miss World Baseball Classic

Angels center fielder Mike Trout has informed tournament organizers that he will not play for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic in March, Trouts agent, Craig Landis, said Saturday. Trout, no doubt, would have been a huge coup for the WBC -- the 21-year-old was a unanimous selection for the American League rookie of the year and finished second in the MVP vote after hitting...

Replacing Torii in the Two-Hole (Part 2) - Assessing the Candidates

By Gregory Bird - AngelsWin.com Columnist Can our new number two hitter be as productive as Hunter was for the Halos last year? Can the Angels fill the hole left by Torii’s departure or will it be a black hole? How can the Angels maximize their production and fulfill their preseason billing as the most dynamic offense in the Majors? In trying to tackle this I discovered it was...

In the mean time, he’s been fishing with girlfriend Jessica Tara Cox. Hopefully Trout will skip the sophomore slump this season..-TO Angels’ Mike Trout Halo’s His Fans...

Los Angeles Angels Top 15 Prospects (2012-13)

After a quick glance at the Top 15 list it should be fairly clear that this is one of the weakest minor league systems in Major League Baseball. Poor drafts (mainly due to lost draft picks from free agent acquisitions) and trades have decimated the system, which has almost no starting pitcher depth to speak of.   #1 Kaleb Cowart (3B) Age PA H 2B HR BB SO SB AVG OBP SLG wOBA...

Make or break year for Mark Trumbo

Is it just me, or does it seem as if Mark Trumbo is destined to find himself in the hot seat every off-season? At this time last year there were questions floating about regarding Mark Trumbo and his ability to play third base every day. Mark Trumbo proved his critics right, playing terrible defense at the hot corner for only 8 games before finding refuge in the outfield. Trumbo...

Putting Mike Trout’s 2012 season against another AL ROY to win MVP

There was plenty of clamor over the fact that Angels OF Mike Trout did not win the AL MVP this season. Personally, I thought that Miguel Cabrera deserved the award, not just because he won the triple crown, but the fact that he had as good, if not a better season. To me it was that simple. Nothing against Trout; he had an MVP type season, but Cabrera was more deserving of the award...

Angels’ OF Mike Trout is Even Awesome At Fishing

I saw this picture on BustedCoverage the other day. Mike Trout just living the life man. The guy is the best player in professional baseball and now he’s taking the fishing world on by storm. Trout better be careful about reeling in 550 lb fish – he’ll be rumors of steroids before the sun comes up.

Mike Trout to pass on World Baseball Classic

Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles times reports that reigning American League Rookie of the Year and MVP runner-up Mike Trout will not accept an invitation from the United States officials to play in the World Baseball Classic.  Even more telling, the source was his agent: [Trout's Agent Craig] Landis said that Trout “just wanted a regular spring-training preparation,”...
