Los Angeles Angels
OAKLAND -- If the Angels were looking for proof positive they can make a late push for the postseason, they got it this week. Los Angeles capped a three-game sweep of the A's -- its first over the NorCal rivals since October 2009 -- with Wednesday's 7-1 win with 15,404 in attendance. "We knew we had to get all three," Angels winning pitcher Dan Haren (10-10) said of the series. "Our will to win these last three games has been different than it has all year. Going back home, this feels really good." The Angels not only beat but dominated a team that had won nine straight and trailed only seven innings during the streak. Against Los Angeles, Oakland never led and got outscored 21-5 in the three games. "It's just baseball," A's catcher Derek Norris said. "If you look at it optimistically, we went .500 on the homestand. We're still right in the mix. If losing three games is the worst thing that happens we'll be OK."...

For the most part, that’s what it seems like for Scott Kazmir and his comeback with the Independent Sugar Land Skeeters.
Only a few days after picking up his first professional win in over two years, Kazmir picked up his second straight victory going five plus innings, allowing two earned runs on seven...
Glowing stories written about dynamic Los Angeles Angels rookie Mike Trout this summer often referred to his potential to become one of the youngest batting champions -- and MVPs -- in baseball history as almost a fait accompli. That has decidedly changed as baseball enters its final month. Detroit Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera has caught Trout for the AL lead in batting...
Happy Birthday to Nick Maronde, and what a generous man he is. Giving US the gift of a smooth Angels victory on his special day. Goodness what a guy, keeping the Angels bullpen from imploding on top of itself after a rough but highly effective outing by Dan Haren that was almost ruined by Garrett Richards. I don't know what your guys obsession with Richards "potential...

Brandon McCarthy has left in the fourth inning against the Los Angeles Angels after a hard line drive off the bat of Erick Aybar hit Oakland's opening-day starter in the head.
McCarthy had almost no time to react when Aybar lined his 91 mph cutter back Wednesday. The ball bounced off the right side of McCarthy's head, knocking the A's pitcher down. He also landed on...
