Reliever Michael Kohn and the Los Angeles Angels can't seem to end a rather strange streak.
Texas pinch-hitter Jurickson Profar homered leading off the ninth, and the Rangers beat the Angels with a walk-off homer for the fourth straight time at home in a 6-5 victory Thursday night.
Kohn (1-4) was on the mound for the last two, having surrendered Adrian Beltre's winning blast that completed Texas' three-game sweep on July 31. Geovany Soto and Leonys Martin won the first two games of that series with long balls.
''It's definitely weird, four walk-offs in a row,'' Kohn said. ''It's not the ballpark. It's just a matter of executing pitches.''
Profar was on the bench when the Rangers had the first four-error inning in their 43-year history in Texas.
When he got the call as a pinch-hitter, the rookie erased that bad memory and gave the Rangers at least another day of realistic playoff hopes with a shot about 10 rows into the sta...
BEST OF MAXIM
The Los Angeles Angels continued their rough season on Friday night by assuring themselves a losing record with a loss to the Texas Rangers. CJ Wilson pitched fairly well for LA, but he got himself into trouble in the third inning by throwing two wild pitches, issuing a walk and hitting a batter. After the […]
Sometimes, it’s best to just keep doing what you’re doing.
Josh Hamilton, who racked up 43 home runs and 128 RBIs with the Rangers last season, has had a rough first year with the Angels. And while his struggles are likely due to a combination of things, the 32-year-old may have been adversely affected by a new diet that he started last offseason.
Hamilton, who enters Friday’s...
Once again it appeared that Texas was going to flop at the end of the season, but a recent surge has fans believing that the Rangers won’t die.
It seems like a season ago that the Texas Rangers were in charge of the AL West and looking to contend in the post season once again. It looked like last year’s late season flop was an aberration. This team...
ARLINGTON, Texas The Texas Rangers have all their attention on the Los Angeles Angels but also realize that there's a chance they could be playing baseball past Sunday.
Texas manager Ron Washington said that if the Rangers had to play in a play-in game Monday, rookie left-hander Martin Perez would get the start.
"If we have to play this through and it's turn on Monday...
As the Angels packed their bags Albert Pujols extended his hand to Mark Trumbo.
"Take care. Finish strong" Pujols said. "I'll be in touch."
This was all wrong. Trumbo and the Angels were headed to Texas to try to knock the Rangers out of the playoffs. Pujols was headed home his season ended by injury in July.
Manager Mike Scioscia and General Manager Jerry...
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Jered Weaver pitched seven innings of five-hit ball, Josh Hamilton drove in two runs, and the Los Angeles Angels did a bit more damage to the Athletics' home-field playoff hopes with a 3-1 victory over Oakland on Wednesday.
Erick Aybar had three hits in the Angels' final home game of their disappointing season. Los Angeles is unbeaten in its past...

The Los Angeles Angels let a chance to avoid a losing season slip away - like the baseball coming out of C.J. Wilson's hands.
Wilson had an erratic inning with three wild pitches and consecutive hit batters, and he blamed that wildness on the condition of the balls put into play after the Angels' 82nd loss, 5-3 to the Texas Rangers on Friday night.
''One out of...
The playoff-chasing Texas Rangers are now trying to beat the rain.

Leonys Martin hit a three-run double, Ian Kinsler homered and the Texas Rangers kept pace in the AL wild-card chase, beating Houston 7-3 Wednesday night and handing the Astros their team-record 108th loss of the season.
The Astros lost their 12th in a row. Texas completed a three-game sweep and finished 17-2 with 11 straight wins against their instate rival.

ARLINGTON, Texas The Texas Rangers don't want to have the weather having any sort of impact on their postseason hopes so they've made a change to the Saturday schedule.

The Texas Rangers are still waiting to get help but haven’t gotten any as the Cleveland Indians and Tampa Bay Rays continue to win.
