TEAMS: Los Angeles Angels, Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians, Boston Red Sox
The Angels have hired Bill Richardson, who spent the last five seasons in the Texas Rangers organization, to manage their short-season Class-A team at Orem, Utah, General Manager Jerry Dipoto said Friday.
Richardson, 52, will replace Tom Kotchman, who resigned in October after 29 years in the Angels organization, 23 of them managing short-season Class-A clubs in Idaho and Utah.
Dipoto had asked Kotchman, the father of big league first baseman Casey Kotchman, to give up his on-field duties at Orem to focus on scouting. Kotchman chose to do neither, and he subsequently took a job coaching the Boston Red Sox's rookie team in the Gulf Coast League.
Richardson, 52, managed the Rangers' rookie-league team in Arizona in 2008 and 2009 and spent the last three years managing their Class-A club in Hickory, N.C. Before joining the Texas organization, he spent 20 years coaching high school baseball in the Sacramento area.

Player Poetry

Although I consider watching baseball a full time job my actual day job is writing stuff. Okay, not quite. My actual day job is running around after two preschoolers and a hyperactive puppy. My writing stuff job gets done at night.
This may come as a shock to you, but most baseball games happen at night. I like to say there...

Who should bat second for the Angels? It probably doesn't matter
A major topic of pointless debate in the world of Angels fans is "who should bat second in the Angels lineup?"
Erick Aybar because speedy!
Alberto Callaspo because bat skills!
Howie Kendrick because MOAR FASTBALLZ!
Chris Iannetta because walks!
Josh Hamilton because I'm smarter than you!
Everyone has a good case for their guy, some of you more...

It’s that time again folks, time for the World Baseball Classic (WBC). The global tournament always gets mixed reactions here in the states. I personally love the WBC. Total Run Index Series: Top Ten Left Fielders
We continue with our normal series, but we add in an extra twist as we move to the outfield. Position switches occur more routinely with the outfield, so players move around within the index. Mike Trout is being moved to left field (among others that fall outside the top ten) while Josh Hamilton is being moved to right field. So, those two players will be switched even though Hamilton...
