Multiple sources are reporting that the Angels are finalizing a two-year deal, with a club option, with left-handed reliever Sean Burnett.
#Angels have signed LH RP Sean Burnett to a 2-year deal with a club option, source said. Pending physical.

Alden Gonzalez is also reporting the money should be less than the $9.5 million that Kyuji Fujikawa got on his two-year deal with the Cubs, so this seems to be a perfectly reasonable signing from a financial standpoint if that proves true.
In adding Burnett, the Angels not only improve their overall bullpen depth but they've given themselves more flexibility since they now have two lefties for what seems like the first time in the Scisocia era. This should free up Scioscia to break away from more traditional bullpen roles and use Scott Downs, who is also effective against righties, in any variety of situations. Burnett is no slouch against righties either, but the...

Reliever signings: Sean Burnett, Randy Choate
The ill-advised "mutli-year contracts to relievers" train continued to roll along on Wednesday, with the Angels signing Sean Burnett (last of the Nationals) to a two-year, $8 million deal and the Cardinals signing Randy Choate (last of the Dodgers) to a three-year, $7.5 million deal.
Both of these relievers owe Brandon League and Jonathan Broxton a fistbump for setting...
Angels moving on without Greinke
NASHVILLE Jerry Dipoto will never say never, because an opportunity might arise or Angels owner Arte Moreno might hand him the equivalent of a blank check to pursue a player like he did with Albert Pujols last winter.
But based on the general manager's actions over the past 10 days and his comments as he left the winter meetings Thursday, it is clear that pitcher Zack Greinke...

What's next for the post-Greinke Angels?
Well that was an exciting yet ultimately disappointing Winter Meetings, wasn't it? Sure the Angels made a few moves and more or less locked in their roster for the season, but they kind of forgot to bring in that one big piece that was going to make it all worthwhile, that would be a Mr. Zack Greinke.
Maybe I'm being presumptive, but with the money and roster spot they...
Nats get hammered in Rule V Draft
Given the success the Washington Nationals have had in building their minor league system over the past six years, the Nationals were a popular target for the Rule V Draft today. The National lost 4 prospects in the Rule V Draft and did not make any selections.
The following Nats prospects are gone via the draft.
P Jack McGeary: McGeary was selected by the Nationals...
Zack Greinke Rumors: Dodgers ‘Determined’ to Sign Free Agent

But it seems pretty clear who is going to offer Greinke the
biggest deal. The Dodgers seem determined to sign him, no matter the cost.

Live Microphone: Nats P Dan Heren
New Washington Nationals starting pticher Dan Heren was pretty clear on his reasons and motivation for signing a 1 year, $13 million deal with the Washington Nationals yesterday.
“The deciding factor in coming to Washington was winning. I don’t think there’s a team better positioned to win now. It really was an easy decision for me, actually. It didn’t take me...
AP source: RHP Haren, Nationals near deal
A person familiar with the talks tells The Associated Press that free agent pitcher Dan Haren and the Washington Nationals are close to completing a one-year deal for $13 million.
The person spoke Tuesday at the baseball winter meetings under condition of anonymity because the deal wasn't finalized.
The Nationals had the best record in the majors last season. The NL East champions...
Nationals Take the Dan Haren Shot
When the Angels allowed Dan Haren to walk away for nothing, the immediate speculation was that he’d look to stay on the West Coast. There seemed to be a natural fit with the Padres, and though there were lingering questions regarding Haren’s health, it was clear he was going to get a shot somewhere, and it was clear he was going to be in some sort of demand. Haren seems to have...

National Rent-a-Arm
So all the exciting Winter Meetings deals are gonna come on the last day? It's like Frank and Zach from MTV's Challenge have taken over the Winter Meetings and ruined them too. Give me back Evan and Kenny and CT! In the words of T.J. Lavin, they killed it! Sorry, I didn't have any balloons set up to fall when Sean Burnett signed a deal. Maybe Greinke will finally...
