Joe Blanton's time in Los Angeles will not yet come to a close.  However, he will be changing uniforms.  Blanton has reportedly signed a deal with the Los Angeles Angels.  He will move from Chavez Ravine to Anaheim. According to both Jon Heyman of CBS Sports and Jon Morosi of Fox Sports, Blanton has signed a two-year deal with the Angels. blanton gets 2 yrs, $15M — Jon Heyman (@JonHeymanCBS) December 6, 2012 Joe Blanton to #Angels for two years and $15MM, source confirms @jonheymancbs report. — Jon Morosi (@jonmorosi) December 6, 2012 Blanton came to the Dodgers via a mid-season trade last year in which Los Angeles sent a player to be named later (Ryan O'Sullivan) to the Phillies.  Blanton did not fare well with the Dodgers.  In 10 starts, he posted a 4.99 ERA.  However, he was struggling with the Phillies as well.  Overall in 2012, Blanton had a 4.71 ERA in 30 starts and one relief appearance. Blanton tried pitching through an impingement in his right elbow in 2011, but he was unable to do so.  He did not have surgery on the elbow, but he did land on the disabled list at two different times throughout the year.  He ended up making just eight starts for the Phillies in 2011.  However, at the beginning of the 2012 season, he said he was back to 100 percent. Blanton has never been known as a guy who would put up great numbers.  He's only had two seasons in his nine-year career in which he had an ERA under 4.00.  Blanton's career ERA is a bloated 4.37.  But he appears healthy, and if he can eat innings for the Angels next season, he could be an asset.  The deal seems a little expensive, but Blanton did post the highest strikeout-to-walk ratio of his career.  Could be a good sign.
