When AngelsWin.com created our list of the Top-50 Greatest Moments in Angels History, three homer uns stood out above all others. Coming in at #2 was Scott Spiezio’s blast to bring the team back from the edge in Game 6. Coming in at #7 was Tim Salmon’s shot to give the Angels their first ever World Series win.
Coming in at #8 was a grand slam by Dick Schofield on August 29th, 1986. He both started and finished the greatest 9th inning rally in Angels history. With the Angels trying to hold onto a 4.5 game lead over the Rangers, the Angels found themselves losing 12-5 in the 9th inning against the Tigers. What happened that night was history and cemented in the minds of all fans that the Angels were for real and could overcome any deficit. They became known as the “Comeback Kids” and were loved by the fans.
