Rick Ankiel has re-signed with the Washington Nationals.
A few days ago, the New York Mets were interested in signing the left-handed batter. However, he elected to sign a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
He is expected to platoon with Mike Cameron in center field if he makes the roster. He will have to battle with Roger Bernadina in spring training to make the team.
He made $1.5 million last season. But it is not known how much he will make this upcoming season.
He had a .239 batting average with nine home runs and 37 RBI’s in 415 plate appearances.
