Though it took longer than we may have hoped, the White Sox finally pulled off their first comfortable victory of the season in which they didn't have to fight and scrap until the very end to get the W. But the recipe for success was nothing new: a lot of pitching and a dash of power. Our finesse south paw, Jose Quintana, brought his A-game for the second straight outing, as he pitched 6.2 scoreless innings in which he fanned 7 Jays' hitters. After Quintana struggled in his first outing a couple weeks ago vs. the Mariners, many were worried that the rest of the league had caught up to our 2012 rookie sensation. But since then, he's tossed 14.2 scoreless innings through two starts, lowering his ERA to 2.55. He's continuing to look like the comfortable, confident pitcher that we saw last season and even more recently in Spring Training. As we've been able to say more times than not, the bullpen again did its job. Jesse Crain struck out 2 hitters in his 1.1 innings of work (3.00 ERA), and Donnie Veal continued to look good (0.00  ERA) as he pitched a flawless 9th inning, looking good against righties, a task manager Robin Ventura doesn't present to him too often. But the offense is what really gave us all a sigh of relief tonight, as the boys in black went 3-for-7 with runners in scoring position. Tyler Flowers got things started off on the right foot in the 2nd inning with his 2-out, very long 2-run home run to right center field off of Toronto starter J.A. Happ. His suddenly new stance looks good so far, as he went 2-for-4 on the night. The power continued in the top of the 6th inning when Alex Rios launched his 5th home run of the season, extending the team's lead to five runs. It was also very nice to see the team's efforts in the top of the 7th inning, as they loaded the bases with nobody out and saw both Jeff Keppinger and Paul Konerko hit RBI sacrifice flies. So if the 3-for-7 line with RISP wasn't good enough for you, you should rest assured that the team was indeed extremely efficient with ducks on the pond. All-in-all, it was a very nice game for us Sox faithful to watch as we got to take a deep breath for the first time in way too long and just enjoy some baseball. The finale of the series should be a good one, as both team's aces will face off with the Sox trying to win the series before heading home. It's knuckleballer RA Dickey against Chris Sale at 7:07 PM EST from the Rogers Centre.
