I don’t think anybody is overreacting if they are a little worried about the state of Diamondbacks right now. The real question is, does the team feel the same way? If you’ve been following the national baseball writers closely at all, you’ll see that the Diamondbacks are brought up probably just as much as any other team as a strong possibility to make a trade before the deadline.

Chicago Cubs have trade bait

This year is obviously not going to be the year for the Chicago Cubs. With a 35-45 record and three of the best teams in all of baseball in their division, it is going to take a miracle for the Cubs to make the post-season. It’s not that the Cubs have no talent this year, they just haven’t been able to put all of their pieces together at the same time (and the bullpen piece is...

Cubs Rumors: Matt Garza draws interest from many teams

It is no secret that Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Matt Garza is a certain trade candidate. In fact, if not for season-ending arm problems last year, he most likely would not have finished 2012 in Chicago. This year, even after suffering a Spring Training lat injury that kept him out until May 21, Garza is still one of the hottest names on the trade market. On June 28, CBS Sports...

Report: Red Sox Among Teams on Yovani Gallardo’s No-Trade List

Yovani Gallardo’s name might be tossed around a lot in advance of the July 31 trade deadline. Many teams would need to clear an extra hurdle to acquire the right-hander, though. Gallardo can block trades to 10 teams, according to MLBDailyDish.com’s Chris Cotillo. The Red Sox reportedly are among the teams on the pitcher’s no-trade list. Gallardo reportedly can block trades...

Brewers' Yovani Gallardo back to searching for answers on mound

Yovani Gallardo appeared to have his early season struggles behind him after three straight starts without allowing an earned run. Two starts later, Gallardo is back to searching for answers yet again. After a short outing last Wednesday against the Cubs, Gallardo was hit hard by the Nationals on Monday night. Gallardo allowed eight runs on nine hits in just three innings as the...

Rockies Rumors: Colorado interested in Yovani Gallardo, Matt Garza

The Colorado Rockies are surprisingly only four games out of first place in their division and appear to be buyers at the trade deadline. They will specifically be looking for pitchers as their pitching staff and bullpen may need a bit of tuning up. According to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post, the Rockies are taking interest in Brewers pitcher Yovani Gallardo and Cubs...

On Matt Garza’s Last Three Starts

The Cubs didn’t have hearty expectations entering the year, but coming on the heels of some nice acquisitions, it wasn’t inconceivable that they would hang around and make some noise in the pennant race. And in a just world, perhaps they would have. They have played better than their record all season, and in fact still carry just a -12 run differential into this weekend’s...

Cahill hits the DL with hip contusion

It’s no secret Trevor Cahill was downright awful in the month of June, but at least now he can try to figure things out. The Diamondbacks placed him on the 15-day disabled list Monday with a hip contusion, stemming from the line drive he took against the Marlins.

Diamondbacks Rumors: Arizona interested in Yovani Gallardo, Jeff Samardzija

The Arizona Diamondbacks are in the market for a starting pitcher. Believe it or not, Ricky Nolasco has not been mentioned as a possible target. The Diamondbacks are focusing on completely different pitchers right now. According to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Diamondbacks are interested in Brewers starting pitcher Yovani Gallardo and Cubs starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija...

Arizona showing interest in Samardzija, Gallardo

Everyone in the NL West seems to be interested in trading for Miami's Ricky Nolasco. Everyone but the Arizona Diamondbacks, that is. On the surface, that seems a little odd, because unlike some other teams in the division, they could actually use him. While starting pitching was supposed to be an Arizona strength, Ian Kennedy (5.21 ERA, 4.78 FIP) and Wade Miley (4.55 ERA...

Padres Rumors: San Diego looking at starting pitchers

The San Diego Padres are surprisingly in the race in the NL West and appear to be buyers at the deadline. The Padres are looking to add to their rotation at the deadline and already have a couple of guys that they are targeting. The Padres are "enamored" with Orioles pitcher Jake Arrieta, according to Bill Center of U-T San Diego.  Another target, according to Center...

MLB Trade Rumors: Alex Rios and Matt Garza Are on the Giants Radar

Following a disappointing stretch that has seen the Giants below .500, and go just 2-8 in their most recent ten-game stretch, Brian Sabean is reportedly already looking to the trade market to assess what players he may be able to acquire to help right the ship in San Francisco as they try to defend their 2012 World Series Championship. The Giants are arguably in need of a pitcher...

Josh Beckett’s season over; NL West eying Garza and Nolasco?

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Josh Beckett has called it a season after agreeing to undergo surgery for his thoracic outlet syndrome. It was from nerve irritation near his neck which caused numbness in his throwing hand. The surgery calls for him to be out for three-to-five months which basically will call for his season to come to an end. It should be noted that St. Louis...

Division teams make shopping lists as trade deadline nears

As a dozen or so teams spend the next few weeks deciding whether to be buyers or sellers at the trade deadline, the verdicts in the N.L. Central already are in. The breakdown is as obvious as the 11-game difference between third and fourth place. The Cardinals, Pirates and Reds will be buying; the Brewers and the Cubs will be selling. Right-hander Jeff Samardzija could see another...
