Soon-to-be free agent second baseman Aaron Hill said he was happy living in Arizona and playing for the MLB’s Diamondbacks and that’s why he recently signed a contract extension with the National League ball club. Hill was acquired by Arizona in a trade in 2011 and have been quite happy with him ever since. The mutual admirers got together and worked out a new deal that will see Hill make $35 million over the next three years. Hill had a year to go on his current contract that pays him $5.5 million in 2013 and he’ll be paid $11 million next year and in 2015 and 2015 will take home $12 each year. Hill was the recipient of a Silver Slugger award last season and batted .302. Kevin Towers, the Diamondbacks general manager, said Hill had a remarkable season both at the plate and in the infield. He added that Hill often came through in the clutch with games on the line with either a big hit or fantastic defensive play. The 30-year-old Hill was having a rough time of it with the Toronto Blue Jays
