FF Locker Room:
Willie Bloomquist, after missing all of the 2013 season so far, has been activated from the DL after making four rehab starts for Triple-A Reno. Bloomquist will be a utility man for the D-Backs. Last year, in 338 plate appearances, Bloomquist posted a .302/.325/.398 split with 23 RBI and 7 SB. That made out for his best season to date, but his .362 BABIP suggests this was a mirage. He holds little to no fantasy value even if he finds playing time every day. He has played in more than 100 games in a season just twice in a 10 year career so far.

CHICAGO -- Before opening a three-game series with the Cubs on Friday, the Diamondbacks placed third baseman Eric Chavez on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right oblique, clearing the way for infielder Willie Bloomquist to return from the DL.
Bloomquist, 35, had been out since late in spring training with a similar oblique injury. He played four rehab games with Triple...
Just as the injury news was becoming all good news, Eric Chavez left halfway through and at-bat in Thursday’s game against the Rangers. It appears he injured his right oblique, and while he had an MRI, the results are unknown as of yet.
The Diamondbacks placed starter Brandon McCarthy on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with what the team referred to as inflammation of the right-hander's throwing shoulder. The move was made retroactive to Friday, the day after McCarthy allowed six runs on nine hits in just 2 23 innings, his shortest outing of the season.
With McCarthy unavailable, the D-backs called up right...
The Arizona Diamondbacks placed right-hander Brandon McCarthy on the disabled list Saturday because he has right shoulder inflammation and recalled Randall Delgado from Triple-A Reno.
McCarthy is 2-4 with a 5.00 ERA in 11 starts this season. In 3 starts from May 12-24, he went 2-0 with a 0.38 ERA including a career-high 18-inning scoreless streak from May 7-24.

The Diamondbacks could soon find themselves with some interesting decisions to make regarding their pitching staff.
On Monday, Tyler Skaggs arrived in town for a spot start against the Rangers and pitched six scoreless innings -- signaling that he could soon be back for good.
On Tuesday, right-hander Daniel Hudson continued his recovery from Tommy John surgery, throwing 74 pitchers...
CHICAGO -- It was a rough May for Diamondbacks starting pitcher Wade Miley. And that's probably putting it nicely.
The left-hander lost his fourth straight start and fifth of May on Friday, a 7-2 defeat against the Cubs, and despite a strong finish, the outing was enough for manager Kirk Gibson to put Miley on notice.
"I'm not going to let him go out and keep doing...

Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Brandon McCarthy wins the “Tweet of the Week” when describing his last start in a mock interview with reporters. McCarthy got shelled for 6 runs and 9 hits over 2.2 innings against the Texas Rangers. McCarthy then tweeted this golden tweet in a mock interview with reporters about his implosion on the mound. McCarthy is a gem.

Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Brandon McCarthy has been placed on the DL due to a shoulder issue. The news broke on Saturday afternoon, along with the corresponding call-up of Randall Delgado, with Nick Piecoro, D-Backs beat writer for azcentral.com, among the first to tweet the move.

Eric Chavez‘ best days are long behind him, but he keeps finding ways to stay on the field for various teams. However, he’s going to be on the shelf for at least a couple of weeks with a right oblique strain. Chavez is a notoriously “slow healer” so he could be out a little longer than fans hope. So far this year, he’s helped the D-Backs get off to a nice start by posting...

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Diamondbacks third baseman Eric Chavez left Thursday's game against the Rangers in the first inning with a strained right oblique.
Chavez grabbed his side after fouling off the second pitch he saw from Texas right-hander Justin Grimm on Thursday. Chavez also fouled off the first pitch.
Cliff Pennington replaced Chavez in the lineup.
For the second time in as many games a Diamondbacks starting pitcher was knocked around once again, as the Cubs pounded Wade Miley en route to a 7-2 win at Wrigley Field.
The DBacks lead the NL West division with a record of 30-23, which would be good for fourth place in the surprisingly competitive NL Central. The Cubs are movin' on up, and now have a comfortable three game lead on the Brewers for fourth place. We're not Number Five! Let's see if they can continue to promote the ephemeral momentum narrative into this series.
