The Miami Marlins won Wednesday’s game against the New York Mets 3-1 as Marlins’ pitchers continued to put up fantastic statistics.   Josh Johnson made the start and came away continuing to feel fine which is the best news of all for the Marlins.   A 54 minute rain delay came after Johnson’s time on the mound, it was the third delay already this Spring for the Marlins. Johnson went three innings in which he allowed one run on five hits.    The tall right-hander struck out two and walked none in a no decision.   Heath Bell, Mike Dunn, Brad Hand and J.D. Martin combined for six shutout innings in which they allowed a total of three hits.   It’s been a daily occurrence to the staff put up similar numbers especially the arms in the bullpen.    While J.D. Martin is considered a longshot to make the team, he’s making an impression on the team which should give him an opportunity later in the year.  Hand was credited with the win, his second of the Spring by striking out one in his two innin

Marlins had Gaby Sanchez throw baseballs at new aquarium to test its durability

Those of you who have had a chance to view pictures or video of the Marlins new amusement park stadium know that there is a lot going on there. Most notably, the Miami ballpark features an obnoxious structure in center field that will whirl and twirl when someone from the home team hits a homer. The park also boasts 40 feet of aquariums where a backstop should be. As expected, the...

Sanchez Strong in Debut

Anibal Sanchez made his first start of the Spring on Wednesday after recovering from soreness in his shoulder.  The Miami Marlins came away winners 4-2 over the Tampa Bay Rays in the first of three Grapefruit League match-ups between the interstate rivals.   The Marlins are now 6-3-1 this Spring. Sanchez worked two scoreless innings in which he struck out four, walked none and...

The Marlins At Least Have Some Taste

As the Florida Miami Marlins prepare to open their new stadium and begin their new season in their new uniforms with their new shortstop who will hopefully hit a bunch of home runs to light up their new home run fish statue/shrine, it was only fitting that the team would add some new flair and style to the stadium as well. But it was a little alarming when a new Marlins song, ...

Miami Marlins Theme Song

Honestly, I was expecting something terrible, but even I wasn’t ready for this atrocity. This has only solidified my hatred for the bandwagon sports city that is MIA. As with the C-A-N-E-S chant, it seems as though South Florida is loud and proud in voicing their ability to spell their team’s name… Click here to view the embedded video. But hey, I guess it could be worse,...

Buehrle Knocked Around

Friday’s game did not go so well for Mark Buehrle and the Miami Marlins as the St. Louis Cardinals took the game 5-0.    Buehrle was responsible for all five runs as his rough Spring continued.     For the Spring, the veteran pitcher has now allowed seven earned runs in only six and one third innings pitched.   The lefty has allowed eleven hits in that time. Even though...

Marlins 3, Mets 1

Jose Reyes stepped into the on-deck circle, turned toward the New York Mets' dugout and bowed. Hard feelings, nowhere to be found. The Miami Marlins shortstop faced his former team for the first time Thursday, shaking hands and offering hugs before the game with guys donning the orange-and-blue color scheme he used to wear. Reyes signed a $106 million, six-year deal with the...

Buehrle allowed six hits and walked two in his second spring training start. He threw 70 pitches against what could be the Cardinals' opening day lineup. The Showdown Of The Century

Did you catch all the dramatic build-up to the Jose Reyes versus the Mets match-up yesterday? It was being billed by beat writers from Miami and New York as the “Showdown of the Century.” Personally, I found Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah to be much more compelling and entertaining. Three-headed monsters always tend to make for good drama. Reyes got all of one at-bat during the...
