Aroldis Chapman had quite the week. On Monday, the Reds hurler received a promotion, as he was tapped to become the team's new closer. The move also fell on the day that he was arrested for driving on a suspended license with a citation for speeding. The roller-coaster stretch continued when he was sued on Tuesday for being responsible for a man's imprisonment in his native Cuba. A day later, he recorded his second straight save for Cincinnati. Judging by this week –– and similar hiccups during his career –– Chapman is headed toward the path of a massive talent...
BEST OF MAXIM
CINCINNATI It wasn't as if he needed to do it because Cincinnati Reds manager Dusty Baker already knew what relief pitcher Sam LeCure is all about. But Baker is all about clear psyches for his players and he wanted to be certain.
LeCure, a long relief pitcher, wasn't being used, 11 days of inactivity, a forgotten man, anonymous in his bullpen chair.
Baker wanted to be...

Here's another look at Devin Mesoraco's first career grand slam from Thursday night. His 4-run jack helped propel the Reds to a 6-3 victory and 4-game sweep over the Braves and thus, launching them past the Cardinals for first place in the NL Central.
Thom Brennaman had the call.
And just like that, another winning streak can begin.
Last night, the Cincinnati Reds bounced back a game after losing their 6-game winning streak and went on an offensive tear. The team hit 3 home runs. Chris Heisey, his second in as many games, hit a 3-run shot for the early lead in the first inning. Devin Mesoraco hit a solo shot in the 4th. And Ryan Ludwick contributed his own...
What would benefit the Reds and Aroldis Chapman the most? Chapman as a starter or Chapman as a reliever? It's been a controversial argument for a few years now amongst the GABP corridors. And now thanks to a 6-game winning streak and the incredible dominance being displayed by Chapman, the national media are chiming in with their two cents as well.

CINCINNATI When the Cincinnati Reds finish their game Sunday afternoon, Ryan Ludwick hopes the team charter flight to Pittsburgh is at warp speed and he can check in to his hotel room quickly.
He wants to grab his television remote and click it to Fox's telecast of NASCAR's Charlotte 600, hope he can catch a portion of it so he can root for Kurt Busch.
Ludwick and Busch...
J.J Hoover picked up his first Major League win!
The Cincinnati Reds extended their lead in the Central Division to 1.5 games as they put on an offensive show scoring 10 runs. Only 2 Reds position players failed to get a hit and score a run as the Rockies defense continued to struggle, and offered no help, behind starter Jeremy Guthrie. He gave up 6 runs over 5 innings...
Mat Latos had mixed reactions to his start Sunday against the Colorado Rockies, but he and the Cincinnati Reds will take the result. The right-hander set a career high by giving up five home runs, but those were the only baserunners he allowed, minimizing the damage while the Reds were hitting four homers on their way to a 7-5 win. "I didn't walk anybody?" said...
CINCINNATI (AP) -- Brandon Phillips hit a three-run homer to help the Cincinnati Reds outslug the Colorado Rockies 7-5 Sunday in a game that set a record for Great American Ball Park with nine home runs.
Mat Latos allowed five hits -- and all of them were solo home runs. Colorado's Carlos Gonzalez hit two of them, and Troy Tulowitzki, Michael Cuddyer and Dexter Fowler also took...
The Pirates open a three-game series with Cincinnati on Monday afternoon. Right-hander James McDonald will pitch for the Bucs. The Reds will toss right-hander Bronson Arroyo.
Cincy couldn't figure out ole' McDonald on Monday
The NL Central-leading Reds (27-21) strolled into the Steel City on Monday as arguably the hottest team in all of baseball. However, you certainly wouldn't have thought that after watching the pesky Pirates (24-24) down them by a tally of 4-1 on a steamy affair at PNC Park.
Pittsburgh starter James McDonald...
Let the good times roll after the Reds rock Colorado on Saturday
After hitting plenty of homers on a homestand, the Cincinnati Reds could find it difficult to go deep against a pitcher who has been keeping the ball in the stadium of late.
Pittsburgh Pirates starter James McDonald hasn't allowed a homer over his last 33 2-3 innings heading into Monday's opener of a three-game set against the first-place Reds.
Cincinnati (27-20) has won...
