To coincide with their surely mediocre 2012 season, the Pittsburgh Pirates have lined up some surely mediocre bands to attract another fan or two to the ballpark this season.

Free agent catcher Chris Snyder has agreed to a one-year contract with the Houston Astros, a deal that includes a 2013 mutual option.
The 30-year-old hit .271 with three homers and 17 RBIs in 34 games for Pittsburgh last year, when his season ended in June because of surgery on his lower back. Snyder hit 15 homers with 48 RBIs for the Pirates in 2010.

If you, like me, live outside of an MLB market and were hoping that Major League Baseball would revise its blackout policy to make it possible for you to actually be able to watch games involving all 30 teams, you'll be disappointed this morning to see that Maury Brown is reporting that the policy will remain in effect for 2012. In my case, this means that I can never, ever watch...
