Pawtucket Red Sox           Game 1 Box Score Game 2 Box Score                                       Overview A lot to like from the pitching for the PawSox yesterday. Aaron Cook, (who I think should replace Bard in the rotation if the bullpen keeps floundering), threw a complete game shutout allowing 5 hits and no earned runs in 7 innings. It was a very impressive performance for him to say the least and encouraging to Red Sox fans who are worried about rotation depth. In the double-header, Will Middlebrooks went 0-6, though his average is still impressive at .357. Hassan finally showed off his plate discipline, going 0-1 with 2 walks in the second game of the double-header. Wilson, like Cook, also impressed. 25 year old Alex Wilson went 5 innings while only allowing 3 hits and one run while striking out 7 in only 5 innings of work. Wilson should get a shot either in the bullpen or maybe in the rotation this year for the Red Sox if he keeps this up. Wilson projects as a bullpen g

Red Sox Manager Bobby Valentine Already on Hot Seat in Boston?

New Boston Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine is not off to the sort of start that anyone wanted to see, especially considering how disappointing last season finished. But after just three games, could Valentine already be on the managerial hot seat? It may sound ridiculous, but there is a little bit of truth to that belief. Valentine already had his detractors even before...

2012 Top 20 Prospects – Boston Red Sox

It’s prospect season again. I’ve had my rankings listed on team pages, but have been horrible about keeping those up to date. As I mentioned on the pages, I’m looking at other rankings when I make mine (along with scouting reports and my own opinion). After a small break, I’m back with the Boston Red Sox. For the top 20, I’ve listed them according to my ranking. I’ve...

Bobby Valentine Says Red Sox Have 'A Lot of Heart,' But So Far It's Not the Right Kind

Editor's note: is going to tell the story of the 2012 Red Sox in Bobby Valentine's words. Each game day, we will select a Valentine quote that sums up the day for the Red Sox. Bobby Valentine continued to keep an even keel after the most recent Red Sox implosion, a 13-12 loss, once again in Detroit, this time in extra innings. He mentioned the Red Sox not having...

Carl Crawford is expected to take the field soon as he continues to recover from wrist surgery. Bobby Valentine said Crawford is working to get back to form and that appearances in extended spring training games are "imminent" for the left fielder, according to reports. "I heard he's progressing really nicely," Valentine said. "The way it seems right...

Will Adrian Gonzalez Lead the Red Sox in Home Runs This Season?

The Red Sox are certainly no strangers to the long ball. While the Sox are without a homer on the year through two games, they were on the wrong end of five by the Tigers on Saturday afternoon. They'll look to reverse that trend on Easter Sunday when they take on Detroit in the hopes of salvaging one win out of the opening three-game set. While Prince Fielder and Miguel Cabrera...

Which Red Sox Pitcher Will Lead the Team in Wins This Season?

The Red Sox still have one of the best offenses in all of baseball. Even as their season came crashing down last year, they continued to hit. Where they ultimately fell short, however, was on the mound. As the Boston pitching fell apart, so did the team. That's not to say the Sox don't have a talented rotation, though. Far from it actually. Look no further than Opening Day...

Guide to Learning How to Speak Baseball in Japanese

Bobby Valentine's first season as Red Sox manager should be exciting, as not only do the Sox have a talented team, but the Boston skipper is also bringing a unique perspective to the organization. Before arriving in Boston, Valentine last managed in Japan, from 2004 to 2009. During his tenure overseas, he became a cult hero and learned many new baseball philosophies. He's...

History Reveals Mixed Bag When Comparing Slow Starts for Red Sox, Yankees (Video)

The last time the Red Sox and the Yankees were 0-3, you may have heard, was way back in 1966. A lot's changed since then, obviously, but NESN Nation's Dan Duquette ventured to take a look back and see what else happened in 1966. Maybe that year wasn't so bad after all. Top 10 takeaways from the ffirst half-week of baseball

Closer Situation, Bobby Valentine’s Unique Lineup Choices Get Attention as Red Sox Prepare to Face Blue Jays (Video)

The closer question is on the front of everyone's mind going into Monday night's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Daniel Bard continues to get support from those who would rather see the newest member of the Red Sox rotation closing games instead. Following a tumultuous opening series against Detroit where Alfredo Aceves and Mark Melancon both failed to hold leads, Don...

Sox players may still be at odds over leaked clubhouse information

From ESPN BostonFor the second time in as many days, ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney painted the Red Sox as a team with lingering clubhouse discord from last September's collapse and the reports of pitchers drinking beer and eating fried chicken that followed. Olney suggests that some Sox players still resent the source or sources that leaked the information for the Boston...

Red Sox Swept in Opening Series Against Tigers

It’s like deja vu of 2011 in Red Sox Nation right now. For those who don’t remember, the Red Sox dropped an opening series against a tough Texas Rangers club and ended up 0-6 out of the game and 2-10 before their season started turning around. The Detroit Tigers posed a similar threat to the [...]
