OAKLAND, Calif. -- Looking at the standings, you'd think the Oakland Athletics had no chance to beat the Texas Rangers, but that's why you play the games.

Coco Crisp homered and hit a bases-clearing triple to lead the A's to a 7-1 blowout over the Rangers on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, the Athletics won three of four games in the series in dominating fashion.

Japanese sensation Yu Darvish had the worst outing of his young career in the Majors. Darvish went 5 1/3 innings, allowing six hits, six runs, and issued six walks in the loss.

The first game was a 12-1 laugher in which rookie Jarrod Parker took a no-hitter into the eighth inning while Rangers starter Scott Feldman was shelled for eight runs in just 1 2/3 innings.

Then on Wednesday night, Bartolo Colon pitched eight scoreless innings to win his 18th game against Texas, second most against the Rangers in franchise history. Colby Lewis was the tough luck loser, a complete-game loss, giving up only two runs in eight innings.

Thursday afternoon, it was Brandon McCarthy's turn, tossing seven innings, allowing only three hits and a run to pick up the victory.

The A's broke the game open in the fourth inning. Darvish issued two walks and hit Kurt Suzuki with a pitch to load the bases. Cliff Pennington drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly, and Jemile Weeks walked to reload the bases. Crisp, who had homered to end an 0-for-15 slump at the plate in the third inning, broke the game open with a line drive triple off the right field wall to clear the bases. Crisp

added four RBIs to bring his season total to 10.

In the seventh, Brandon Moss, recently called up from Triple-A Sacramento, homered to right field.

The Rangers lone run was scored in the fourth inning. Josh Hamilton doubled to right and scored on an RBI single by Adrian Beltre.

NOTES: The A's Yoenis Cespedes left the game in the first inning as he advanced from first to third on a single. He was diagnosed with a strained left hamstring and is listed as day-to-day. ... This is the Athletics' first series win since beating the Rays, May 4-6 at Tampa Bay. ... With the win, McCarthy has a five-game win streak, a new career high. McCarthy also got his first victory this season vs. an AL West opponent. ... The Rangers have scored two runs or fewer in each of their five losses on this road trip.
