Oakland Athletics catcher Derek Norris left Wednesday night's game at Texas after getting hit behind the plate with a foul tip.
Adrian Beltre was batting in the sixth inning when he fouled off a pitch.
It wasn't immediately clear where the ball hit Norris, who went down to his knees and stayed in that position for several minutes. He was eventually helped up by a team trainer and assisted while walking back to the dugout.
John Jaso, who was getting a night off, took over behind the plate.
BEST OF MAXIM
No man wants to go through this injury, but Derek Norris did. The Oakland Athletics catcher, known for his grit and toughness was forced from last night's game after taking a foul ball to a location most of us can sympathize with. Norris was examined by trainers and eventually taken off the field.
According to Christian Corona of MLB.com, Norris suffered a contusion to...

The city of San Jose has sued MLB over its rules that prevented the Oakland A's to move to San Jose. Does the city have a case?
Manny Ramirez, who we fondly remember for his man-child antics and devastatingly perfect swing (and maybe for the ‘roids), is back in the news. Kind of. Manny has been playing this season in Taiwan for the EDA Rhinos, but that seems to be coming to an end. Reports out of Taiwan are that he will be dropped by the Rhinos nine days before his contract is set to expire. This has nothing...

Minnesota Twins ballboy Paul Neshek made an amazing grab of a foul liner during the fourth inning of Thursday's game at Target Field.

Major League Baseball is dragging its feet on having team owners vote on the Oakland Athletics' proposed move to a new ballpark 40 miles south in San Jose, San Jose city officials said in a lawsuit filed Tuesday.
The lawsuit -- filed in federal court in San Jose -- is disputing MLB's exemption to federal antitrust law, which MLB has used as a "guise" to control...
Jarrod Parker earned his sixth win of the year, pitching seven solid innings of three-hit, two-run ball as the Oakland A’s hit around Yu Darvish en route to a 6-2 victory over the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night.
The A’s offense got going in the second, as Brandon Moss took advantage of the short porch in right field by lacing an inside fastball from Darvish into the seats for...

The A's Josh Donaldson ignored third base coach Mike Gallego's stop sign and was nailed at home by Texas Rangers Elvis Andrus' relay throw in the top of the ninth inning to end the game. The Rangers defeated the A's 4-3.
Last weekend's visit from the Seattle Mariners proved to be the beginning of the Oakland Athletics' current rough stretch. The A's only victory during that set came when Bartolo Colon outpitched Hisashi Iwakuma in the finale.
The 40-year-old Colon looks to win seven straight starts for the first time in his 16-year career Friday night against Iwakuma and the Mariners...
