Daily Sports News Trends:
Filed under: Athletics , MLB Injuries Ben Sheets has a torn right flexor tendon in his elbow and will miss the rest of the season, A's manager Bob Geren announced Wednesday. It is the second time Sheets has suffered the injury; the right-hander had surgery on the tendon after the 2008 season and sat out all of 2009 while rehabbing from the procedure. A major league source told FanHouse's Ed Price that Sheets still has to decide what kind of surgery to have this time around, and when he will have it. Sheets, 31, signed with Oakland in late January on a one-year, $10 million deal, and has, nominally at least, served as the team's ace. The right-hander is 4-9 with a 4.53 ERA this season, but has been sidelined since July 19 while his injury was evaluated.
