Rogers on paternity list, Bianchi comes up

Mark Rogers is having quite the month. First, the right-hander has taken advantage of another chance at pitching in the big leagues, now he's becoming a father for the first time. Returning home to Arizona for the birth of his first child, Rogers was placed on the paternity list by the Brewers on Monday. The move allows Milwaukee to add an extra bat to its bench for two days...

Second-half improvement typical for Ramirez

MILWAUKEE Aramis Ramirez is not known for getting out of the gates quickly. In his 15 seasons of major league service, Ramirez has held a .300 batting average just three times before June 1st. He's had multiple years -- three to be exact -- that began with an average under .200 in the season's first month. April is also Ramirez's worst month in his career in terms of...

Roenicke: Segura out of lineup for 'day off'

DENVER When Brewers manager Ron Roenicke called up shortstop Jean Segura from Double-A Huntsville a week ago, he was mum on how much the hot prospect would play in his first few games with the Brewers. Six games later and Segura has started in every game, except for Monday's contest against the Rockies, begging the question: Why take him out of the lineup? It appeared that...

Braun exudes confidence amid team's woes

MILWAUKEE If Ryan Braun is anything, it's confident.Or is it stubborn? Sometimes its hard to distinguish the two when it comes to the Brewers star left fielder, who, when asked about goals for the remainder of the season, aims pretty high."I don't know if anyone's ever gone 50-0, but why not be the first?" Braun said Wednesday. "Why not? Who knows? You...

Brewers' Henderson struggles in Houston

One day after Milwaukee Brewers manager Ron Roenicke explained that reliever Jim Henderson was the only reliable option in the Brewers bullpen, Henderson proved, like the rest of the bullpen has often this season, that he wasn't invincible. That didn't seem to be the case in the Brewers ninth inning against the Astros on Saturday night though, as it took just 13 pitches...

Fiers gets first taste of Coors Field

Mike Fiers has been a bright spot for the Milwaukee Brewers, who hope to see him in the discussion for some postseason honors. Fiers, who took a perfect game into the seventh inning of his last start, will make his first appearance at Coors Field on Monday night when the Brewers visit the Colorado Rockies. Milwaukee (52-61) snapped an 11-game road losing streak with a 5-3 win over...

Brewers try to conquer road woes vs. Astros

By MATT BECKER, STATS Senior WriterHouston hasn't had many opportunities to win back-to-back games over the last six weeks, but considering the bad luck Milwaukee's Marco Estrada is enduring on the mound and the Brewers' road woes, the Astros seem to have a decent chance of accomplishing that feat Saturday night.Of course, they have their own pitching issues to worry...
