Astros bullpen catcher falls for snake prank

Pranks are fun. They're even more fun when the victim is deathly afraid of snakes. Astros bullpen catcher Javier Bracamonte has a deep-rooted fear of snakes, so the team decided to take advantage of it and scare the living daylights out of him. A rubber snake was placed in the bucket of batting practice baseballs that Bracamonte was using, with the hopes that he'd grab it...

Astros' Norris dominating opponents

Bud Norris has been the best pitcher in baseball for the first 25 days of May. On top of four wins in four starts, Norris has fashioned a 0.35 ERA. The next-closest ERA belongs to Zach Greinke, who checks in at nearly a run higher (1.33). Norris will put his status -- not to mention the first four-game winning streak of his career -- to the test Saturday night against the...

Astros' Norris turning in dominant month

The Houston Astros are playing above preseason expectations so far this season, and right-handed starting pitcher Bud Norris is a big reason why. Entering Saturday's start against the Dodgers, Norris has a 0.35 earned-run average in May.

In that time, his record is just 6-7, but he has compiled a 3.66 ERA with 148 strikeouts in 24 starts and one relief appearance. By Royals' standards, and even major league standards, his ERA and other pitching statistics are impressive considering the American League is known for its hitting...

Astros-Rockies Preview

After one of their best stretches of the season, the Houston Astros once again hit a stumbling block on the road. A matchup with the Colorado Rockies might help end the Astros' woes away from home.
