The Astros were a hit Friday night at Minute Maid Park. They put up a run-scoring double a home run and a triple to center field before L.J. Hoes supplied their first single in the third inning — and that was only the beginning of an avalanche of offense during a welcome return home. Jonathan Villar set a career high with two of the Astros’ three triples — the most they have collected in a game in more than a year — and Matt Dominguez and Robbie Grossman homered in a 12-4 victory over Toronto. “It’s good when you have days like this” Hoes said. “Everyone seemed to be clicking on all cylinders and these are fun games.” Brett Wallace slugged two doubles and umpires had to review Jose Altuve’s run-scoring double off the left-field wall in the first inning to make sure it wasn’t a homer as the Astros churned out eight extra-base hits. “Those were some pretty productive at-bats by pretty much all the guys” Astros manager Bo Porter said. The Astros (42-85) finished with 15 hits. Their 12 runs were the most since a 16-9 win April 9 at Seattle. The last time they faced Todd Redmond (1-2) who took the loss for the Blue Jays (57-72) they managed only three hits. “After we see a guy one time and whether they had success against us or not (hitting coaches John Mallee and Dan Radison) do a great job of preparing these guys the next time we’re able to see that particular pitcher” Porter said. “Today’s another prime example of guys just managing the at-bats well really being patient getting something that they can handle something they can drive and that’s why you saw all the extra-base hits.” Jordan Lyles (6-6) earned the win in his 20th start. He allowed four earned runs on 10 hits through 7 1⁄3 innings.
