The Houston Astros have released Francisco Cordero, MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports. Cordero was only in Houston for a month and a half as he was acquired in late July from the Blue Jays in the massive ten player deal.
The Blue Jays had previously signed Cordero to a one-year $4.5mm deal. He earned that one-year deal after posting 37 saves and a 2.45 era for the Reds.
With the Astros, Cordero posted a 19.80 era in only 5 innings. Overall for the season, Cordero is 3-8 7.55 era with a 7.1 k/9.

Gonzalez has been a pleasant surprise for Astros
The remarkable ride continues for Edgar Gonzalez. From Class AAA to unemployment to the Mexican League to a deal with the Houston Astros and the chance to provide some depth to a rotation that needed it. DeFrancesco believes he's right man for Astros
As he attempts to prove he's a worthy candidate for the Houston Astros' managerial vacancy, interim manager Tony DeFrancesco is attempting to capitalize on one of life's basic truths: Kids like new, shiny toys. DeFrancesco has a friend in the electronics business, and the friend gave him a selection of $200 headphones to give to the player of the game after every Astros...
Bud Norris Is My Home Boy
If you are an avid reader of Field of Streams here at Full Spectrum, and you really should be, you have probably read just how ridiculously good Bud Norris has been at the Juice Box this year. You may also know that I adore pitchers with high Ks/9. The K/9 is why I have always liked Buddy Boy Norris. His career K/9 of 8.83 is quite tantalizing and that is why I have stuck by...

The RHM crew had the pleasure of attending Saturday night’s game between the Cincinnati Reds and the Houston Astros. Our seats were much better than the last time we saw a game, as evidenced by the much closer photos.
Joey Votto exposed some skin to the crowd after his double. Once on base, he always puts on a knee brace.
