Delino DeShields Jr. Resembles Dad… Sort Of

On the tail end of my scouting trip to Savannah, having an opportunity to see the Lexington Legends was well worth extending my stay considering the potential to scout three of the Houston Astros first round picks in second baseman Delino DeShields Jr., third baseman Mike Kvasnicka and pitcher Mike Foltynewicz. And while “Folty” was not in the cards, the two first rounders, power...

Top 20 Prospects – Arizona Diamondbacks

It’s prospect season again. I’ve had my rankings listed on team pages, but have been horrible about keeping those up to date. As I mentioned on the pages, I’m looking at other rankings when I make mine (along with scouting reports and my own opinion). Next up, the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Top 20 Prospects. For the top 20, I’ve listed them according to my ranking. I’ve also...

PRO Rumors financial efficiency report- Arizona Diamondbacks

The next financial efficiency report we will dive into is the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks finished the regular season with a 94-68 record, eight games ahead of the Giants for the NL West title (their first playoff appearance since 2007). The Diamondbacks then took on the Brewers in the NLDS, and after being down 0-2 in the first two games they forced a decisive fifth game...

Arizona Spending Like A Mid-Market Team

The Arizona Diamondbacks may have the highest team payroll since 2003 after additions of Jason Kubel and Joe Saunders. Fitting, since most deferred player salaries from that era in Diamondbacks history will finally come off the books at the end of 2012.

NL West News and Notes: January 27th

The Arizona Diamondbacks came out of nowhere last year to surprise everyone. This year they are the odds on favorite to repeat as division champions, but this division has seen very few repeat winners of the years. Will the Dodgers come back and regain control or will someone like the Rockies lay in the weeds? Arizona Diamondbacks If we can give Kevin Towers credit for...

The Astros have seen Zach Duke at his best, and they're hoping to see it more frequently in 2012. On Friday, the club announced it has signed the left-handed Duke to a Minor League contract with an invite to big league Spring Training camp.

D-backs could have next great power duo

D-backs outfielder Justin Upton and first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, both of whom are just 24, should give Arizona one of the elite power duos in the game for years to come.
