Oakland Athletics right-hander Jarrod Parker exited his weekend start after experiencing tightness in his hamstring. Manager Bob Melvin didn't seem overly concerned about the condition, but he did tell Jeff Kirshman of MLB.com that tomorrow's bullpen session with determine Parker's availability for his next start. "That's to be expected," Melvin said. "Whether it's a cramp or a strain or whatever you want to call it, when you have that and you're doing a physical activity in the fashion he did, it's probably typical that there is some soreness today." After his early exit, Parker experienced lingering soreness in his hamstring while playing catch. Melvin said this doesn't indicate a serious injury, but the team is holding out naming him as available until they see how the hamstring responds during tomorrow's bullpen session. Oakland is hoping the ailment won't derail Parker's recent success. After getting off to a rough start to the season, Parker has gone 4-0 with a 2.34 ERA and 1.76 opponent's batting average over his past six appearances. On the season he's maintained an ERA and WHIP of 4.11 and 1.242 over 17 starts. Follow @mlbinjurynews Looking for fantasy baseball advice?

And now for something completely random, here's a video of former MLB star Jose Canseco dancing in a Speedo. The Vine was filmed by Canseco's daughter Josie, who could be heard in the video cheering him with "Go Daddy". At the same time, however, there seems to be a bit of embarrassment, based on the caption Josie posted with the video: how did this man...

The Oakland Athletics organization has always been known for having a great farm system. Despite having the fourth-lowest payroll in baseball, the A’s are able to compete with the big budget teams by drafting well. When they lose a big-name player to a bigger contract with another team, Oakland can simply bring up a young prospect to take their place. And should a need arise for...

How Good Can the A’s Be if Yoenis Cespedes, Josh Reddick and Chris Young Start Hitting?

At 48-35 and sitting right atop the division, not to mention with a top-5 record in all baseball, there are plenty of reasons to sit back and marvel at the A’s success through the mid-point of the season. They’ve played most of the season without their ace, Brett Anderson. When Anderson was pitching, before he broke his foot, he really wasn’t all that effective. Imagine if...

Coco Crisp makes amazing diving catch

In the 1st inning against the St. Louis Cardinals, Oakland Athletics centerfielder Coco Crisp covered a ton of real estate to make a sensational catch robbing the Cardinals Matt Holliday of extra bases. Of course, what’s more impressive….the catch or the fact that Crisp is able to put a hat on over that enormous afro he is sporting. Tie goes to the afro! Check out the video below...

Jemile Weeks’ Position Change to Centerfield is His Best Shot Back to Majors

The news that the Oakland A’s started Jemile Weeks in centerfield was really only shocking to me in the sense that it hadn’t already happened. I’ve long felt, and stated openly, that I thought Weeks fit best in centerfield. His defense at second base just wasn’t solid enough for him to stick there, and I questioned whether he’d really be any better at shortstop. The A...

Athletics 7, Cardinals 5

Josh Donaldson is pushing for a spot on the American League All-Star team with his bat and glove. ''If someone...

Oakland A’s GM Billy Beane Running His Team Like a Soccer Club

Sir Alex Ferguson, the famously red-faced manager of Manchester United, who retired at the end of the most recent season, was well-known for his policy of squad rotation. Ferguson would regularly rest even his star players and divide playing time among the entire team. The policy, which is employed by many top clubs, was partially necessitated by the sheer number of games that United...
