The Oakland Athletics announced that they have signed pitcher Bartolo Colon to a one-year deal worth $3mm. The deal also includes a good incentive package, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The 39-year Colon went 10-9 with a 3.43 ERA, 1.0 HR/9, 1.4 BB/9 and 5.4 SO/9 in 152.1 innings for the A's last season. But he made news for the wrong reason as he was suspended 50 games for a failed drug test. Colon still must serve five games of the 50 game suspension to start the season. In 2011, Colon went 6-2 with a 2.71 ERA in his first 11 starts for the Yankees but faded down the stretch after experiencing knee problems. After the All-Star break, the 2005 Cy Yong winner went 2-6 with a 4.98 ERA. Image taken by Keith Allison and used under the Creative Common License Agreement.
