Heyward
2011 In A Nut-Shell You have to admit, overall, 2011 wasn’t that bad a year, if you can get past the monumental collapse at the end (“thank you Boston for taking all the heat of us” – Braves fan). But come on! You lost to the eventual World Series Champs. That’s says something right? Anyway, getting into the team…after a disastrous what seemed like forever slump from Dan Uggla, he proved to be worth it. There’s a great young core with Freeman, Kimbrel, Venters, and pretty much the entire pitching staff. McCann is a rock, and I truly believe Heyward will catch a bit of the Rocky II, and go all Eye Of The Tiger on the league next year; too much talent there. Also, a full season with a true lead-off hitter, Bourn, will really prove to be worth its weight in gold. Projected 2012 Lineup C-B. McCann 6 yr/$26.8M (07-12)+13 cl opt 1B-F. Freeman Rookie Contract 2B-D. Uggla 5 yr/$62M (11-15 3B-C. Jones 3 yr/$42M (10-12)+13 opt SS-T. Pastornicky LF-M. Prado Ar...

Trading Prado Should Require Overpay

Martin Prado was without a doubt one of the biggest disappointments for the Atlanta Braves in 2011. In 2010 Prado was a rare second baseman who hit like a leftfielder, but in 2011 he was a leftfielder who hit like, well, a second baseman. Missing time with a Staph infection certainly didn’t help and neither did his astoundingly low .266 BABIP (compared to his .315 career average...

Brandon Beachy Player Projection No. 132

Key Stats: Beachy turned an impressive Spring training into an impressive rookie season. While he wasn't able to pile up W's (only 7 in 25 starts) Beachy posted an obscene 10.74 K/9 rate in 141.2 IP. To go along with that, he didn't issue a lot of free passes keeping that mark under three per nine. His ERA of 3.68 and WHIP of 1.21 are better than servicable in the fake...

Jack Wilson’s agent says Mets are interested

Last week, SI.com’s Jon Heyman said the Mets, Dodgers and Braves are among six teams to show interest in free-agent infielder Jack Wilson. Today in the New York Post, Wilson’s agent confirmed the Mets interest, though he says the team has yet to make an official offer to his client. “They still have to figure out the Reyes situation first,” the agent said. Matthew...
