He homered in his first game off the DL and in his first game at home this season after sitting out the first two games against the Brewers. Jones is hitting .417 and has 456 career home runs. The Braves, who feature prominent left-handed hitters in Michael Bourn, Brian McCann, Freddie Freeman and Jason Heyward, have faced fix left-handed starters in their first nine games and are scheduled to see the Mets Johan Santana again on Tuesday. Theyll likely face another lefty in Arizonas Joe Saunders on Saturday. The Mets pitching has been dominant, with a 2.48 ERA second in the NL -- and two shutouts. R.A. Dickey and Jonathon Niese, who both beat the Braves in the opening series, are already 2-0. Whos hot Bourn was 6-for-13 against the Brewers and raised his average from .125 to .243. McCann went 5-for-10 with five RBIs and Heyward went 4-for-10 against the Brewers. Heyward is hitting .345. Mike Minor (1-1), who is scheduled to pitch against Arizona on Thursday, gave the Braves their best pitching performance of the season on Saturday. He held the Brewers to two hits in 7 13 innings as the Braves won 2-1. Closer Craig Kimbrel has had some scary moments, including loading the bases with one out in Saturdays 2-1 win over the Brewers, but he hasnt allowed a run in 2012. That includes four innings in the regular season and eight in spring training. Mets 3B David Wright has five hits in his past nine at-bats despite playing with a broken right pinkie. Arizonas Chris Young was hitting well through Sunday, with a .364 average, four home runs and 11 RBIs in the first nine games. Whos not Jair Jurrjens wasnt upset with the way he pitched on Friday, but he still gave up five runs in five-plus innings and hasnt gotten an out in the sixth in either of his two starts. He has a 7.71 ERA and has allowed 14 hits in 9 13 innings. Rookie SS Tyler Pastornicky was 0-for-10 in the sweep of the Brewers. 1B Freddie Freeman has just two hits in last 21 at-bats. Hes hitting .162 and has struck out 13 times, second-most in the NL. Braves reliever Chad Durbin has given up a home run in all three of his appearances. His ERA is 18.00. Mets LF Jason Bay is hitting .185 and 1B Ike Davis is at .125. RF Lucas Duda has struck out 12 times. Injuries Braves: P Tim Hudson (back surgery) is schedule to return by the first of May. N.Y. Mets: 3B David Wright (finger) is day-to-day. Arizona: SS Stephen Drew (ankle) and former Braves P Takashi Saito (calf) are on the 15-day DL. On the farm Triple-A Gwinnetts six-game winning streak was snapped on Sunday. Yohan Flande (nine innings), Buddy Carlyle (8 23 innings), Cory Gearrin (eight innings) and Adam Russell (five innings) havent given up runs this year for Gwinnett. OF Luis Durango leads Gwinnett with seven RBIs and six steals. SS Andrelton Simmons is hitting .400 with two steals at Double-A Mississippi. Sean Gilmartin, last years first-round pick, has a 1.50 ERA in 12 innings. 2B Tommy La Stella has 12 RBIs for High-A Lynchburg to lead the Carolina League in RBIs and C Evan Gattis is hitting .385 with eight RBIs.
