Found December 13, 2013 on The Flagrant Fan:
The first day of my senior year in high school provided a shock. With my head on the desk in homeroom, attendance was being called and the name, Felicia Rivera, rang out. I suddenly lifted my head. That was the name of my first boy-crush in the sixth grade. I looked around and spotted this raven-haired beauty wearing a mini-dress in the back of the room. It was her but all grown up. I caught her after homeroom and indeed, it was the same girl who had moved away to Florida a week after I gave her an ID bracelet. Unfortunately, since she moved back, she had already found a boyfriend.Still, I got to know her and got her a job where I worked. She did not have a car, so every day after school, I stopped at her house so she could get dressed and then I took her to work with me. She told me stories about how cruel her boyfriend was to her. I tried to convince her to take up with me instead and she always laughed and said I was too nice. That pattern has gone on probably forever. Young girls...

Hernandez was suspended by MLB for three...

MLB News: Roberto Hernandez signs with Philadelphia

Roberto Hernandez, nee Fausto Carmona, has reportedly agreed to a one-year deal worth $4.5 million with the Philadelphia Phillies. There is an additional $1.5 million he could gain in incentives. Famous for his spectacular 2007 season and his name change/age ordeal that cost him most of 2012, Hernandez was 6-13 with a 4.89 ERA in 32 games (24 starts) for the Rays last season. He...

Winter Meetings #Phillies Ink Roberto Hernandez… Really?

The Philadelphia Phillies signed the pitcher formally know as Fausto Carmona, AKA Roberto Hernandez, in an attempt to bolster their starting rotation. It is a move that a few years ago would have been a signing to have a sixth or seventh pitcher to look at in Spring Training. Now Ruben Amaro is looking at these long shot pitchers as legitimate options for his starting rotation. This...

Phillies Grab Whatever Roberto Hernandez Is

I remember the way things used to be. Used to be, writing about baseball analysis was pretty easy. Inflated or deflated BABIP over here. High groundball rate over there. This guy has a big difference between his ERA and his xFIP. That guy is miscast as a role player. That’s not the way things are anymore. Many of the principles were fine, and you still see a lot of the same ideas...

Pirates sign Edinson Volquez, extend Charlie Morton

After a couple days filled with rumors (mostly about mediocre first basemen), the Pirates made some moves on Wednesday – both dealing with the starting rotation. They signed Charlie Morton to a three year contract extension worth $21 million, plus a team option for a fourth season. Most were happy with that move, but later in the day the Bucs made a more questionable decision,...

For Starters, The Phillies Have Very Little Depth

The Phillies finally added a starter today in 30 year-old 33 year-old Fausto Carmona Roberto Hernandez. Though the move was particularly underwhelming, at least it's a guy. Yes, someone who can show up and pitch. The Phillies find their starting rotation in dangerous need of more options. Simply put, the...
