The first start for Homer Bailey following his July no-hitter came at Miller Park, a rough outing that began a stretch in which the right-hander has rarely looked like a dominant force. Another look at the Brewers probably isn't what will help him out of his funk. Bailey tries to end his career-long struggles against Milwaukee on Sunday and help his Cincinnati Reds avoid a third straight loss. Bailey (7-10, 3.81 ERA) has made it through at least eight innings without allowing an earned run four times this season, the most notable of which was his second no-hitter in nine months July 2 against San Francisco. But even with some occasionally untouchable stuff and a strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.25) that's among the NL's best, Bailey has had plenty of bouts of inconsistency. He's 2-4 with a 4.40 ERA in seven starts since the no-hitter, serving up eight homers in 45 innings as opponents have posted an .852 OPS that's among the worst in the majors in that stretch. All fou...

David Schoenfield says Reds 'team to beat' in division

For most of the season, the Reds have been playing third fiddle to the Pittsburgh Pirates and the St. Louis Cardinals in the race to win the National League Central. However, thanks to winning 9 out of 12 games, coupled with Pittsburgh's recent losing trend, Cincinnati may actually be the team to beat in the division now. Well, at least according to ESPN.com's David Schoenfield...

My First Jon Broxton Certified Auto.

I've made it anything but a secret that I'm a big and unabashed fan of former Dodgers' ace reliever Jonathan Broxton. The man was one of the best relievers in franchise history, a beast on the mound, and a nice guy when I met him three years ago. I've wanted a certified auto of him for the longest time, but there was almost nothing to choose from. There was apparently...

Down to his final strike, Lucroy buckled...

Brewers 7, Reds 6

Chapman struck him out, and it was the same result each of the next four times they saw each other. Not on Friday night. This time, Lucroy got him. The veteran catcher hit a two-run homer off the All-Star closer in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Milwaukee...
