Cincinnati starting pitchers continued their string of great outings on Tuesday as Homer Bailey, a native Texan, wreaked havoc on an inexperienced Astros offense.
Edgar Renteria provided the game's biggest offensive punch when he smacked a grand slam, his ninth of his career, to left in the top of the fifth. It would prove to be all the run support Bailey would need on this night en route to earning his sixth victory of the year (against five losses).
Because of his outing Bailey receives the Hard Hat for this Reds win. Here is his stat line:
8 IP, 1 R, 5 H, 3 BB, 4 SO (He also scored a run on Renteria's homer)
Bailey is now 3-1 in his last 4 starts.
