The Minnesota Twins made their final two roster moves in preparation for Opening Day on Friday in Baltimore. Right-hander Scott Baker was placed on the 15-day disabled list with an elbow strain. That move is retroactive to March 27. Baker was 8-6 with a 3.14 ERA last season but missed time at the end of the season with an elbow injury. He was originally scheduled to start Minnesota's home opener April 9 against the Los Angeles Angels. Minnesota also optioned right-hander Jason Marquis to Double-A New Britain. Marquis, a 12-year veteran, missed extended time this spring training to return home to New York to be with his 7-year-old daughter, who suffered a serious bicycle injury last month. Because Marquis returned to the Twins' camp in Fort Myers, the team was unable to place him on the bereavement list. Instead, he'll pitch in New Britain to build up his arm strength before rejoining Minnesota. Those moves solidify the Twins' 25-man roster they'll bring to Baltimore this weekend. To do so, however, Minnesota had to select the contracts of right-hander Jared Burton and third baseman Sean Burroughs in order to add them to the 40-man roster. Follow Tyler Mason on Twitter.
