Found April 27, 2012 on No Guts, No Glory:
When we first brought you the news that Baltimore Orioles DH Nick Johnson was hitless after 23 at bats, we thought it would a onetime thing that we all would laugh about and then forget. But it seems that that may not be the case. You see, a week has gone by and Johnson still hasn’t gotten a hit. After three straight DNP’s Johnson was put into the lineup yesterday where he went 0-3. And if you’re scoring at home, Johnson is now 0-26 with an OBP of .133. So it looks like we’re going to be keeping tabs on Johnson until that exciting day when he gets a hit.Via ESPN Gamelog

Nick John is Bad

There was a time, not too awfully long ago, that Nick Johnson was a solid MLB 1st baseman. That time is not now, as he's just plain awful nowadays.  Currently he is being paid by the Baltimore Orioles, who despite Johnson's complete uselessness, are in 1st place in the AL East with a 12-7 record.  Johnson has managed to play in 8 games, while stealing 26 at bats from a...

Orioles Pitching Prospect Dylan Bundy Dominating Competition, Has Yet to Allow Hit This Season

Dylan Bundy is a minor league pitcher in the Orioles system, but could very quickly be making his way to the bigs if he continues his recent run of success. The 19-year-old Orioles prospect has retired 39 of 40 hitters he has faced so far in his pro career, and the lone baserunner was a walk. That means he's in the midst of 13 no-hit innings, with 21 of those 39 outs recorded...

Trading For Jason Hammel Looks Good So Far

When the Orioles traded Jeremy Guthrie for Jason Hammel (and Matt Lindstrom), I said " It's entirely possible that Hammel and Guthrie are similarly good pitcher... If the Hammel of old shows up in 2012, there's a good chance the Orioles will have actually upgraded their rotation." It's incredibly early, but so far the returns have been positive: ...

Andino back; Berken sent down...

Looks like Jason Berken's stay with the Orioles was short. Robert Andino returned from paterntity leave, and someone had to be sent down to Triple-A... O's reinstate INF Andino from paternity list; RHP Berken optioned to AAA Norfolk The Orioles today announced that they have reinstated INF ROBERT ANDINO from the Paternity List and optioned RHP JASON BERKEN to Triple-A...

Photo: Baltimore Orioles center fielder Adam Jones’ custom batting practice bat

In 2011 Adam Jones played in a career-high 151 games and set personal bests in home runs (25), runs batted in (83), and doubles (26) while hitting .280. Despite his successful year Adam has switched to a new bat for this season made by Victus Sports and the results have good so far. He’s hitting .316 and leads the Orioles in [...]

Orioles 10, Athletics 1

Wei-Yin Chen pitched seven strong innings, Chris Davis had four RBIs, Adam Jones and Robert Andino each had three hits and the Baltimore Orioles beat the Oakland Athletics 10-1 on Saturday night. Chen (2-0) allowed six hits and didn't allow a run until Jonny Gomes' one-out home run in the sixth. By then, he led 9-0. He struck out four and walked two. The Orioles scored...

Chris Davis' Raw Power Makes Him Viable Fantasy Baseball Option (Video)

Chris Davis has always had tremendous raw power, but making contact hasn't always been easy for the talented slugger. He's now starting to put it all together in Baltimore, which could make him a viable fantasy baseball option. Davis, who is hitting .286 with three home runs and seven RBIs, could provide 25-30 home runs this season. And for someone who is available in many...

Matusz improved; Orioles win 4th in row, sweep Blue Jays

The Baltimore Orioles continued their surprising start to the new season as they defeated the Toronto Blue Jays, 5-2, to earn a series sweep and win their fourth in a row. They are now 12-7 and have a share of first place in the American League East with the Tampa Bay Rays. For Brian Matusz, Thursday night’s start was crucial. If he faltered, or got hit hard again, the southpaw...

Athletics-Orioles Preview

Strong starting pitching has paced the Baltimore Orioles during their winning streak. Jake Arrieta hopes to continue that run while trying to bounce back from his last outing and help the Orioles to a fifth straight victory Friday night against the Oakland Athletics at Camden Yards. At 12-7, Baltimore is surprisingly tied atop the AL East with Tampa Bay. The Orioles are in that...

A's Take On Streaking O's

Two teams that many picked to finish last in their respective divisions square-off this weekend at Camden Yards. Despite those dire off-season prognostications, both the Oakland A's and the Baltimore Orioles find themselves in the top-half of their division standings. Chris Biderman previews the A's-O's series.
