The head of the players union thinks so.
I think teams don't want the circus that comes with him. The steriod allegations, the special treatment, the lazy outfielding.
While his presence - even if he were merely a dh - would certainly boost ticket sales in some slower venues. But is it worth it?
I used to like Barry until I shelled out a ****load of dough for good seats at his last game as a Giant. He stood in the outfield and looked less than interested. Then the topper came when he left in the 7th inning. While the other players came out after the game and threw balls into the crowd- he was half way to Dublin.
Highlight of that game was the crazy broad that jumped onto the field from about 15 feet to chase him around for a little bit.
I finally understood why he is such a polarizing figure.
Even despite all the hoopla and celebration regarding the home run record - it was still clouded by suspicion of cheating.
So is it "collusion"....or is it something more simple? Could it possibly be that they just don't want to deal with his massive ego?
