The Coastal Plain League announced today that it and Baseball America have agreed to extend their working agreement to continue featuring the “Coastal Plain League Corner” in each summer issue of Baseball America for the 2012 season.

The partnership marks the third straight summer that baseball readers around the country and beyond will be able to keep up with the key highlights of the CPL during the summer months.

“We are very excited to have renewed our partnership with Baseball America for a third straight year,” said CPL Assistant Commissioner Justin Sellers. “The CPL Corner has proved to be quite popular in each of the last two years. We’re happy that our fans can continue to stay updated on the latest buzz around the CPL, while also being able to help put our players, coaches and teams at the forefront of college summer baseball through the national exposure of Baseball America.”

Each CPL Corner will feature highlights from games, as well as notes about players, coaches, ballparks renovations, records being broken, alumni notes, and more. Fans can look for the CPL Corner in the college section and college summer league sections of Baseball America starting with the May 29 issue and running through mid-September.

The Coastal Plain League is the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 16th season in 2012, the CPL features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts. Furthermore, the CPL has had over 930 alumni drafted and 51 alums – including 2011 AL MVP and Cy Young winner Justin Verlander – make their Major League debut thus far.
