I'm exhausted. It's 4:30 AM here in Ireland. It was around 5:30 AM yesterday when game 6 finished. Yet, I'm more exhausted from the drama and excitement than from the time difference.I believed the Cardinals were done 10.5 games back. I didn't think they had a chance against the Phillies' starters in a short series. I also believed the Cardinals were done in game 6. Being absolutely wrong never felt so good.Personally, I believe that there are some accomplishments (e.g., winning 100 games in a season) which by technicality are greater feats than sneaking in as the wild card and winning the crap shoot that is the modern-day MLB postseason. However, when you consider what the Cardinals have had to face this year, loss of Waino, below avg Pujols, injuries to Pujols and Holliday, their season shouldn't be anything to scoff at. In the end, it's the title that matters and the ability to perform in that smaller sample size that is so so memorable. In what may be...

Cardinals Win Thrilling Game: 6…..Force Game: 7

In perhaps the wildest World Series game in the history of the sport, the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Texas Rangers 10-9 in 11 innings and, in the process, forced a deciding game seven to be played tonight. In a game that saw three lead changes, 28 hits, 19 runs scored and an eye popping 5 errors, The Cardinals, and David Freese, overcame one of their sloppiest games of the...

David Freese is an Animal, St. Louis Cardinals are World Series Champions

World Series MVP David Freese gave credit to just about everyone but himself Friday night after his Cardinals came away with a 6-2 win over the Texas Rangers to bring their 11th Championship title back to St. Louis. The 28-year-old thanked Albert Pujols for being a great teammate who helped put him on the right path back to success. He thanked Tony La Russa for being an over-managing...

Cardinals World Series Game 6 and Game 7 factoids

Extra in extras Thursday night was the 56th extra-inning game in World Series history, and the first since Game 3 of the 2005 Fall Classic between the Chicago White Sox and Houston Astros. It was also the 10th extra-inning game in Game 6 of the World Series, with the most recent prior in 1992, when Toronto defeated Atlanta to win their first of two consecutive Fall Classics. National...

Adam Wainwright Gets Option Picked Up

One think you forget about regarding these St. Louis Cardinals is that arguably their best pitcher has missed the entire season. Adam Wainwright, who was 20-11 last year with a 2.42 ERA, has thrown a pitch in 2011. Even without him, the Cardinals are two wins away from a World Series championship. Despite Adam Wainwright’s elbow surgery, the Cardinals are confident in his future...

The Cardinals Deserve This and The Rangers Will Be Back

At the end of the maybe the greatest all around post-season I can remember, the Cardinals are walking away as deserving champions. There aren’t any true underdogs in a short post-season series, but the Cards were certainly not favoured against the Phillies, Brewers or Rangers and yet they outlasted them all to win a second World Series title in six years. There’s a lot...

If I Were a Carpenter

The Cardinals will indeed start Chris Carpenter tonight. Carpenter already pitched two quality starts against the Rangers in this series, but he’ll need to do this one on short rest. It looks like the rainout did work in the Cardinals favor.

Spellbinding Game 6 leaves pundits stunned

In the hours following David Freese's historic walk-off home run in Game 6 of the World Series on Thursday at Busch Stadium, fans, players and media alike tried to find proper context for what they had just seen.

Cardinals, Rangers part of magical World Series

ST. LOUIS — David Freese swooped in, expecting Elvis Andrus to bunt. He did, but the ball trickled wide of the line. The St. Louis third baseman scooped up the foul, scanned the crowd and spotted his target sitting near the Texas dugout: a man in the front row wearing ...
