Twins reassign Benson, Manship to Triple-A

The spring training roster continues to shrink for the Minnesota Twins, as they made four cuts Tuesday. Outfielder Joe Benson and right-hander Jeff Manship were both optioned to Triple-A Rochester. The Twins also reassigned catcher Rene Rivera and infielder Pedro Florimon to the minor league camp. Benson, 24, made his big league debut last September with the Twins, making the jump...

Matt Bush climbed on stage at strip club and was booted by bouncers before DUI

Matt Bush has become one of the biggest cautionary tales in baseball. A former No. 1 draft pick thanks to his talent and the Padres’ frugality, Bush was charged with DUI and hit and run Thursday. Bush allegedly took his roommate’s car, got drunk, climbed on stage at a strip club before bouncers booted him, and then hit a motorcyclist while driving on a suspended license. Bush...

Tampa Bay Rays will finalize their starting rotation in next day or two

The Tampa Bay Rays, a team with perhaps the deepest pitching staff in the majors, will finalize their starting pitching rotation in the next day or two. After another rough outing for P Wade Davis yesterday, it appears likely that he will be the odd man out of the starting rotation and will work from the bullpen. Davis was roughed up in his start Sunday against in-state...

2012 Fantasy Baseball, Advanced Metrics Simplified: Getting to know xFIP

Jeremy Hellickson Major league baseball players must despise advanced statistical analysis. Take a guy like Jeremy Hellickson for instance. He makes his debut for the Rays in 2011 and throws 189 innings with 117 strike outs, 13 wins and a 2.95 ERA, good for 16th in the league and AL Rookie of the Year. Break out the champagne glasses and condoms right? It’s time to celebrate.  ...

Twins 5, Orioles 0

The Minnesota Twins scored four runs off Japanese left-hander Tsuyoshi Wada and held the Baltimore Orioles hitless until the eighth inning in a 5-0 exhibition victory Tuesday. Making his first start since being signed in the offseason as a free agent, Wada was pulled after three innings because of a high pitch count. He threw 62 pitches, including 30 in a three-run second. Wada...

MLB DUI Epidemic Continues

Add pitchers Matt Bush of the Tampa Bay Rays and Bobby Jenks of the Boston Red Sox to the list of idiots that have decided to drive drunk. I guarantee there are many other MLB players that are doing the same thing on a regular basis, but are going uncaught. It's just dumb. They make tons of money. Call a f'n cab. There is no excuse for driving under the influence of...
