Beachy recorded his first win of the season Friday night The Atlanta Braves put together a big first inning as they blanked the Miami Marlins for their 14th straight win.  A stellar start from Brandon Beachy, combined with good hitting, was a recipe for success for the Braves on Friday night. Enough cannot be said about Brandon Beachy’s start on Friday night.  Especially since it was just his 3rd start since returning from Tommy John surgery.  Beachy only gave up 3 hits to the Marlins over his 8 IP.  He struck out 6 and only walked 1 in the game.  He located all of his pitches with perfection. Brian McCann, in his post game interview, said that he thought the movement on Beachy’s pitches were better than when he went down last season.  It will be huge for Braves if Beachy can continue this form the rest of 2013 and into the playoffs.  If it does keep up, Braves fans will think less and less about the loss of Tim Hudson. As I stated earlier, it was a big 1st inning that got the Brave...

Three Cuts: Beachy-led Braves roll to 14th straight win

ATLANTA Here are three things we learned from the Braves' 5-0 win over the Miami Marlins, clinching Atlanta's 14th straight victory. 1. The Braves might be experiencing one of the least-pressurized, big-time win streaks of the last 10 years Here's where perception trumps reality: All told, Atlanta tallied only seven hits on Friday. And yet, this game had the feel...

Braves Activate Laird, Option Cunningham

The Atlanta Braves continue to get healthy as they activated catcher Gerald Laird off the disabled list and optioned outfielder Todd Cunningham to Triple-A Gwinnett.  Laird will be in uniform and available to play against the Marlins Sunday. Laird went on the disabled list August 3, retroactive to July 26 with a kidney stone ailment. Laird has been a solid contributor for the Braves...

Braves dynamic outfield finally dynamic

It took a while—four months to be exact—but the Atlanta Braves finally have the dynamic outfield the team’s marketing department has been trumpeting since February. Justin Upton is hitting .441 with 6 HR and 13 RBI in 34 Aug. at-bats. Jason Heyward and the brothers Upton are tormenting opposing pitchers month, but just a few weeks earlier, some fans were beginning to wonder...

Atlanta Braves news: Braves are the hottest team in baseball

The Atlanta Braves have been unstoppable over the past three weeks, as Wednesday’s 6-3 victory over the Washington Nationals gave the NL East leaders their fourth straight sweep and their thirteenth victory in a row. The Braves are just three more wins away from their longest winning streak since 2000, and it’s been all about the offense’s ability to score runs over this streak...

Jordan Schafer Expected Back Saturday Night

Atlanta Braves outfielder Jordan Schafer will be activated before Saturday night’s game, according to Dave O’Brien of the AJC. Schafer, who has been out with a stress fracture in his right ankle, has been rehabbing at Triple-A Gwinnett.  Schafer was only 2 of 32 in 8 rehab games at Gwinnett, so his timing still has not returned, even though he is ready to play physically. ...

Report: Former MLB player arrested for death threats

Former MLB catcher Johnny Estrada was reportedly arrested on domestic violence charges after making death threats toward his wife.

The Braves Have Shut Everyone Up

The Atlanta Braves are on a thirteen game roll that has shut Braves fans up.  How can you complain about anything when the team is winning every night and has a 15.5 game lead in the NL East? If you complain after thirteen straight wins, you are a certifiable idiot. Fans love to complain, we all know that.  So much so that I think many fans like to complain more than they like...

Braves activate Gerald Laird, option Todd Cunningham

getty images Gerald Laird will return to the Atlanta Braves on Sunday. Laird had been on the disabled list after he had a kidney stone removed. The Braves will welcome the return of their backup catcher who has a .293/.384/.400 line this season in 28 games. In order to make room for Laird on the active roster the Braves sent outfielder Todd Cunningham to Triple-A Gwinnett. Cunningham...

Braves 5, Marlins 0

Justin Upton, Chris Johnson and Brian McCann homered, Brandon Beachy pitched eight strong innings and the Atlanta Braves beat the Miami Marlins 5-0 Friday night for their 14th straight victory. The Braves are one victory shy of tying their 2000 team for the longest winning streak since the franchise relocated to Atlanta in 1966. Beachy (1-0) scattered three hits, allowed one walk...

Braves win lucky 13, face Marlins at home

Since returning from the DL on Aug. 3, B.J. Upton is hitting .476 (10-for-21) with 2 doubles. The Washington Nationals, previously referred to as the team to beat in the National League East by almost all of baseball, opened the doors to the Braves at Nationals Park for a 3-game series and closed the door on all hope of winning the division in 2013. As Thomas Boswell wrote this week...

Scott Downs knows what it’s all about

He officially has a new fan right here. :)

Luis Ayala Catches Justin Upton’s Home Run With His Hat

Braves reliever Luis Ayala made an impressive snag in the bullpen last night but he didn’t use his hands or his glove. Instead, Ayala caught teammate Justin Upton’s homer to left field with his hat, a feat thats harder that it looks. Understandably, Ayala was pretty pumped after he pulled it off.
