MISSING BRAVES GAMES?If you are a former Charter customer in Beaufort SC, you no longer receive FOX Sports Carolinas and the 70 Braves games the network provides each season. Hargray Communications has informed us that they will not offer FOX Sports Carolinas on their channel lineup in Beaufort going forward. Rest assured that Fox is making every effort to engage Hargray in discussions that will result in sports fans in Beaufort having access to FOX Sports Carolinas and all the great sporting events the network offers. Unfortunately, Hargray has stated that they are only interested in offering FOX Sports Carolinas on an additional level of service, one that would require customers in Beaufort to pay Hargray more in order to receive the network. We don't think that it is right for certain viewers to have to spend extra to get FOX Sports Carolinas, particularly since Charter always offered FOX Sports Carolinas on its Expanded Basic level of service - as does every other cable provider in South Carolina. We believe it is important that Beaufort viewers are aware that FOX Sports Carolinas is no longer available via Hargray and that you have the opportunity to be heard. All former Charter customers in Beaufort who want to express their desire to watch FOX Sports Carolinas should contact Hargray. If Hargray hears from enough customers like you, they might return to our discussions, and Beaufort sports fans may once again be able to enjoy all of the Atlanta Braves baseball - as well as all of the South Carolina Gamecock and Clemson Tiger football, basketball and baseball, and the many other events from the SEC, ACC, NBA and NHL - that FOX Sports Carolinas delivers. You can make your voice heard by calling 1-877-HARGRAY (1-877-427-4729).We will continue to update you on our progress as we work to reinstate FOX Sports Carolinas for our Beaufort viewers.

Chipper Jones holds himself accountable

Chipper Jones is not absolving himself of blame when he points the finger at the Braves' anemic offense. "I'm not putting balls I should be putting in play in play," he said. "And when I'm putting them in play, they go for a double play." Still, he said, "You'd still like to think you can go out there and score three runs no matter who&...

Heyward bright spot for struggling Braves

Jason Heyward has teased and taunted us with his talent for more than two years. He can hit home runs that are tracked on radar. He can outrun line drives to his left, right, in front of him or over his head. He can throw out any runner at any base. He can't leap tall buildings in a single bound, but his jumping ability and long arms have been known to snare balls destined...

Braves place ERA-leader Beachy on DL

The Atlanta Braves have placed Brandon Beachy on the 15-day disabled list with elbow soreness, the team announced Sunday. The team is expected to call up Jair Jurrjens this week to take Beachy's spot in the starting rotation Friday. Beachy, who left after 3 2/3 innings Saturday during his start against the Baltimore Orioles, suffered the same elbow problems that he has pitched...

Braves place Beachy on DL with sore right elbow

The Atlanta Braves have placed Brandon Beachy on the 15-day disabled list with a sore right elbow and recalled Todd Redmond from Triple-A Gwinnett. Beachy, who leads the major leagues with his 2.00 ERA, will be scheduled for an MRI on his elbow. He left Saturday night's game against Baltimore in the fourth inning. Beachy said Sunday he has had bone spurs in the elbow. He said...

The Atlanta Braves Suddenly Need A Starter

I think it was Earl Wilson who said baseball is a nervous breakdown, divided into nine innings, or something to that effect. I imagine the Atlanta Braves are starting to relate to that sentiment. On May 20th, the Braves beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-3 in rather classic Braves style with a win, hold, and save from Tommy Hanson, Jonny Venters, and Craig Kimbrel. They were 25-15 and stood...

Jurrjens gettting second chance

One year ago, Jair Jurrjens was on his way to the All-Star game. On Monday, Jurrjens was shagging fly balls with the Braves' Triple-A Gwinnett team. It has been a humbling eight weeks for Jurrjens since his demotion to the minors on April 24. He has had mixed results with Gwinnett, but with Sunday's announcement that Brandon Beachy was headed to the disabled list came the...

Braves snap Yanks' 10-game win streak

Chipper Jones and the Atlanta Braves eventually caught the ball, and the New York Yankees. Jones atoned for a costly error by cutting down the potential tying run at the plate and the Braves held on to end the Yankees' 10-game winning streak with a 4-3 victory Tuesday night. ''Sometimes you're going to whiff on some balls,'' the All-Star third baseman said...

Random Thoughts About the Atlanta Series

The Orioles were in Atlanta over the weekend and I made it out to all three games as the Orioles took the series. Here are some varied observations:* I got to watch the Orioles pitching staff throw 20.1 straight scoreless innings this weekend. If you ever get a chance to do that in person, I highly recommend it. It was the funnest.* This is not a new revelation. I have lived in the...

Not A Day At The Beach: Brandon Beachy Has UCL Tear

The Atlanta Braves are plugging away in the National League East just 4.5 games behind the first-place Washington Nationals. They are also right in the thick of the Wild Card race just 0.5 games behind the surprising New York Mets. But if they are going to catch both the Nationals and Mets they might have to do it without Brandon Beachy for the rest of the year. Beachy's season...

Braves 4, Yankees 3

Chipper Jones atoned for a costly error by cutting down the potential tying run at the plate and the Atlanta Braves held on to end the Yankees' 10-game winning streak, beating New York 4-3 Tuesday night. The Yankees were trying to match their longest winning string in nearly a half-century. Instead, the Braves threw out two runners at home and won for only the second time in...

Braves shut out again by Orioles

ATLANTA (AP) -- Wei-Yin Chen combined with four relievers on a seven-hitter and the Baltimore Orioles continued their success in interleague play by beating the Atlanta Braves 2-0 on Sunday. The Braves, who have lost six of seven, were shut out in back-to-back games for the first time since June 5-6, 2009. Jason Hammel threw a one-hitter in a 5-0 victory for the Orioles on Saturday...
