Your browser does not support iframes. A swarm of bees congregated on the bench in the Kansas City Royals dugout before Sunday's game at Kauffman Stadium. No players were reportedly stung, but the bees allegedly disrupted the Royals batting practice. A beekeeper had to be called in to capture the bees and the Royals dugout had to be cleaned out, but the game started on time. Video via MLB. KC's George Kottaras throws ball into ground

Your browser does not support iframes. There wasn't a lot to smile about for the Kansas City Royals this weekend. Namely, they were swept by the Los Angeles Angeles in their home park in a four-game series. However, this play by Royals catcher George Kottaras served as some comic relief in the midst of an otherwise disappointing weekend. The play came in the top of the fourth inning...

Royals ace faults own shaky start in loss to Cardinals

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The one subject you don't want to bring up to Royals right-hander James Shields anymore is the one about run support. In his last three starts, Shields has lost 3-1, 2-1 and 3-2, and in the start before that he pitched eight shutout innings only to watch the Royals lose 2-1 in extra innings. And then there was that 1-0 loss on Opening Day to the White Sox...

When will the Royals have a winning season?

by John Viril— After the Kansas City Royals lost their 4th straight game 7-0 to Los Angeles on Saturday (3rd in a row to the Angels), I cannot help but wonder when they will post a winning season. The Royals last finished over .500 10 years ago in 2003. Their last playoff season was 1985—when Kansas City won its only World Series. The team’s current 4-15 downward spiral looks...

Royals identity crisis

WHO ARE REAL ROYALS? At some point, slumps are no longer slumps: Its simply who you are. The Royals desperately are hoping thats not the case, though, as they have dropped 15 of 19, including eight of their last nine. But the team that surged to a 17-10 record to start the season seems a distant memory now. Royals manager Ned Yost continues to vow he wont make major changes to...

Swarm Of Bees Set Up Shop In Kansas City Royals Dugout

A very large swarm of bees thought they would take over the Kansas City Royals dugout on Sunday prior to the Royals match up against the Angels. The swarm came in force and was not going to leave the Kauffman Stadium dugout without some sort of a fight. After putting up a little argument with a local beekeeper, the bees moved on and the Royals players were tentatively allowed to...

Kansas City Royals dugout gets swarmed by bees (Video)

Personally, I wanted to make a "bee joke" for this post but I'm going to delay that for another time. Earlier today, a swarm of bees took residency in the Kansas City Royals dugout at Kaufman Stadium and well, below is the video of the bees sitting on a padded bench: Your browser does not support iframes. Thankfully for the Royals, no one was stung... (Courtesy...

Royals’ GM Moore: Yost “least of our problems”

The Kansas City Royals were a trendy pick to be one of baseball’s surprise teams this year. For a while, that was the case: With a May 1 win over Tampa Bay, Kansas City moved into the American League Central lead. Since then, the Royals are 6-14 – tied with Houston for the AL’s second-worst record during that span. Despite the three-week skid, Royals general manager Dayton...

No Shields Support

James Shields can’t buy a win.  A look at his last few starts highlights the problems that are plaguing the Royals.  Over his last 4 starts, Shields’ ERA is sitting at 2.48.  During this time, Shields has pitched 31 innings, walked only 5 batters and struck-out one shy of a batter per inning.  Fairly impressive numbers thus far in the month of May for the Royals newly acquired...

Recap: Royals lose 5th straight in ejection-marred game

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Josh Hamilton started the Angels' comeback when he homered leading off the seventh inning, and Los Angeles beat the Kansas City Royals 5-2 Sunday for its eighth straight win. The Angels were unable to get into their dugout until about 90 minutes before the game because bees swarmed into it. A beekeeper was summoned to solve the problem. Jerome Williams...

Preview: Santana seeks 100th career win

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- There could be an opportunity for Tyler Lyons to make a case for a permanent place in the St. Louis Cardinals' injury-plagued rotation. Lyons had a solid debut in his last outing and will face a Kansas City Royals team that is one defeat shy of a franchise-record home losing streak entering Tuesday night's contest. St. Louis (33-17) has lost Jaime...

Recap: More misery for Royals in I-70 series opener

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Yadier Molina homered and drove in four runs to help the St. Louis Cardinals beat the slumping Kansas City Royals 6-3 on Monday. Molina hit a two-run homer in the first, doubled home a run in the third and his sacrifice fly in the fourth scored Pete Kozma. While the Cardinals own the best road record, 19-9, in the majors, the Royals dropped their ninth...

Preview: Royals to face Cardinals in I-70 series

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Facing Adam Wainwright and the St. Louis Cardinals would not appear to provide the Kansas City Royals with a good opportunity to end their losing streak. The Cardinals can earn a sixth straight road win in the series by extending the Royals' home skid to nine games Monday. St. Louis (32-17) has won 16 of 23 versus Kansas City, including five straight...
