ARLINGTON, Texas Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre became just the second batter this year to homer twice in an inning as he pounded two in the fourth Wednesday to give him three for the game.
Beltre homered in the second inning against Baltimore's Tommy Hunter and then hit a two-run homer to start a nine-run fourth off Hunter. Beltre capped the scoring with two-run homer off Kevin Gregg.
Los Angeles' Kendrys Morales is the only other player in the majors to homer twice in an inning this year. He did that against the Rangers in Arlington.
The three-homer game was the first for Beltre in the regular season. He had three homers in Game 4 of the American League Division Series last year.
Beltre came into Wednesday's game with just one homer in his past 29 games. He now has 22 on the season and is just the ninth third baseman in major-league history with at least 10 20-homer seasons.
