ARLINGTON, Texas Lance Berkman has been around baseball long enough to now that he would get another big hit sooner or later.
It was still sweet for him to actually get one though.
Berkman's two-run homer Monday broke a 3-3 tie with Cleveland Monday night and helped spark the Rangers to a 6-3 win to open an 11-game homestand. The club has now won consecutive games for the first time this month.
Berkman came into the game hitting just .266 and was in a 6 for 40 slide. He had gone without an extra-base hit or RBI since May 24 before swatting a 1-0 offering from Nick Hagadone 376 feet into the stands in left.
"I have enough experience to know at some point something's going to go your way and you're going to drive another run it or hit another home run eventually," Berkman said. "Anytime you're going through a rough stretch at the plate when you're slumping, it's always a relief when it finally comes, especially in a situation where it means a lot to the team."
