Found August 21, 2012 on Redlegs Review:
History was made on Tuesday night during a game between the Pensacola Blue Wahoos and Montgomery Biscuits in Florida. That's because Reds minor league prospect Billy Hamilton stole three bases to reach 146 for the season, (between Single-A Bakersfield and Pensacola) thus breaking Vince Coleman’s single-season stolen base record of 145, set in 1983. Here's how he did it.In the bottom of the first inning, Hamilton walked, advanced to second on a throwing error on a pickoff attempt and stole third base. In the bottom of the third, Hamilton singled, stole second (to tie Coleman’s record) and stole third (to break the record). Hamilton, 21, started the year at Bakersfield and stole 104 bases in 125 attempts in 82 games there. His three steals Tuesday pushed his total to 42 in 54 attempts at Pensacola. For the record, Hamilton still has 12 regular season games left with the Blue Wahoos before possibly being called up to the big club when the rosters expand in September.
