Jarrett Hoffpauir gave the Bisons trouble on Friday but not enough to put the Chiefs in the win column.
After a rough month of June, it appears that the Bisons have straightened their act as they are off to a better start to July.
After losing their first two games of the month to Durham, Buffalo has swung back and won three of their last four games, taking down Syracuse on Friday night 5-1 for their second consecutive victory.
The Bisons received a great pitching performance out of starter Jeurys Familia while having no trouble generating any offense.
Buffalo gained control of the contest early, going up 3-0 in the 3rd on a Josh Rodriguez 3-run home run.
The Bisons then added two more runs in the 6th on an Oswaldo Navarro double which drove in two runs to give Buffalo the 5-0 lead.
The five run cushion proved to be more than enough as the Bisons coasted to a 5-1 win to improve to one game under .500 (44-45).

Nationals slugger Bryce Harper said if he wasn't a 19-year-old MLB phenom, he thinks he would have chosen to become a firefighter.
In case you've been living under a rock and/or living outside of the convection oven that is Washington DC (say, Alaska): there's a heat wave going on in DC. Friday night, Stephen Strasburg wilted in the 96 degree heat (again). On Saturday, Gio Gonzalez earned his 12th win with 6 innings of 3 hit-ball in 101 degree heat. Tyler Clippard earned his 14th save.

Nationals shortstop Ian Desmond has been scratched from the All-Star game because of an abdominal injury.
The decision was made Saturday after Desmond consulted with team doctors, management and NL manager Tony La Russa.
Desmond has been dealing with an oblique injury since mid-June. He has missed only one game this season, and having time off during the All-Star break should help...

Time to exhale for the Washington Nationals’ fans. Bryce Harper has been named to the 2012 MLB All-Star Game. After not originally getting the selection and not receiving the fans’ “Final Vote,” Bryce Harper has been announced as the replacement player for injured National League All-Star Giancarlo Stanton. It may not...
That’s a clown pie, bro.
Jayson Werth gave the 19-year-old a shaving cream pie to the face after the Nationals defeated the Giants 9-4 on July 4th. It’s all fun and games right now in Washington as they have the best record in the NL and a four-game lead in the East. The Nationals haven’t seen this much potential since, I don’t know, 1994 when the team was in Montreal...
In case you've been living under a rock and/or living outside of the convection oven that is Washington DC (say, Alaska): there's a heat wave going on in DC. Also, Bryce Harper was named to the NL All-Star team on Saturday, joining Bob Feller and Doc Gooden as the only teens in history to, like, be named All-Stars or something.
In spite of the heat on Saturday (140 degrees...
The NL East-leading Washington Nationals haven't been this far above .500 since 2005.
The Colorado Rockies are at their lowest point since that same season.
Coming off an abbreviated outing, Nationals All-Star right-hander Stephen Strasburg will try to avoid losing three straight starts for the first time in Friday night's series opener against the visiting Rockies.
